Doctors refer to the big toe as the "great" toe.

buffandmaxsmom, Saturday, 4 June 2011 00:17 (twelve years ago) link

the meh toe

buzza, Saturday, 4 June 2011 00:20 (twelve years ago) link

Excema is more of a rash like psoriasis. Pitted keratolysis is when bacteria eats into the skin, causing pits.

buffandmaxsmom, Saturday, 4 June 2011 00:23 (twelve years ago) link

What's meh?

buffandmaxsmom, Saturday, 4 June 2011 00:23 (twelve years ago) link

All the pics with man-made stuff are harmless to me.

what about the pics of the wood structures?

orchestral pygnoeuvres in zee park (contenderizer), Saturday, 4 June 2011 00:26 (twelve years ago) link

Wood is not man made, so it has a good chance of skeeving me out.

buffandmaxsmom, Saturday, 4 June 2011 00:33 (twelve years ago) link

buffmom, do you mean "to what do you refer to as being 'meh'"? or "what does the word 'meh' mean"?

How many kids do Buff and Max have?

What does the word "meh" mean

buffandmaxsmom, Saturday, 4 June 2011 00:37 (twelve years ago) link

Buff and Max have no kids. Buff has been spayed and Max has been de-nutted.

buffandmaxsmom, Saturday, 4 June 2011 00:39 (twelve years ago) link

thing is, when you post pictures of groups of insects, worms, whatever ― even if they're hairy ― and have no problem at all with complex perforation patterns in man-made material, i wonder whether your fascination really has anything to do with the fear of holes, per se.

it sounds more like you're grossed out by a sort of insectile complexity. human beings (some say) are biologically programmed to be repulsed by things that are insect or snake-like, though we all experience these sensations differently.

orchestral pygnoeuvres in zee park (contenderizer), Saturday, 4 June 2011 00:47 (twelve years ago) link

"meh" is an interjection usually conveying indifference or disappointment.

"How was the movie?"
"Meh."

buzza's phrase "the meh toe" was likely an ironic counterpoint to your explanation regarding the "great" toe.

i mean, if the issue really were a crippling fear of weird natural patterns, i'd think you'd be far more horrified by something like this than any old garden-variety bug wad, or some guy with clothespins on his face.

orchestral pygnoeuvres in zee park (contenderizer), Saturday, 4 June 2011 00:52 (twelve years ago) link

i mean, most non-phobic people are grossed out by bugs, skin rot and wound patterns...

i mean

orchestral pygnoeuvres in zee park (contenderizer), Saturday, 4 June 2011 00:53 (twelve years ago) link

I understand what you're saying, but a lot of insects have repetitive patterns or clusters, which is part of trypophobia. Michael White posted that octopus, which contains no holes, but contains a repetitive pattern. If you go further up on this page, there are pictures of people with melted faces, a zombie being hit by a car and his crud splashing the windshield, and a cat with no face, which are not trypophobic. There's also a picture of Al Gore.

buffandmaxsmom, Saturday, 4 June 2011 00:57 (twelve years ago) link

WmC: OK, I understand. So from now on, I'll refer to my big toe as my meh toe.

buffandmaxsmom, Saturday, 4 June 2011 01:00 (twelve years ago) link

The clothespins on the guy's face would be considered a cluster.

buffandmaxsmom, Saturday, 4 June 2011 01:01 (twelve years ago) link

Excellent. Successful use of irony is a requirement on the World Wide Web.
