I hadn't noticed those top levers, they'll go quickly for sure. Can't make out what gruppo it is, a bit of research says that OG condors used only campag. Do friction shifters need specific mechs or are they interchangeable?

if England pull out of FIFA, which one of these teams will beat them in the quarter-finals of the VIVA World Cup?

Interchangeable.

"loose the suiciders"? They're dangerous enough without loosening them :)

(perosonally I'd see how well they work/can be made to work, and keep them unless they're rubbish. I heart brakes on the tops)

Ok managed to undo 1 of 4 wheel nuts (1/2 inch they seem to be so I've had to use adjustable spanner) so far and the top bolt is proving reluctant to move.... May have to find a replacement rear mech too, the cable grip is fused which is pretty annoying. The rust spots are proving eminently curable though, especially using the alu foil trick.

oops, Condor = not actual "condor" but rather a Falcon sub-brand...... On the other hand, don't mind at all taking parts off and replacing with working/cheap stuff now. Did find a cheap-assed but correct sized NOS wheelset at 48 quid last night....

Very impressed with this Felt write-up, but most of all with the sheer number of size options :)

Mark C, Wednesday, 1 June 2011 12:54 (twelve years ago) link

Chris, tell me more about the wheelset. 27" as well? If not, will it fit?

Mark C, Wednesday, 1 June 2011 12:55 (twelve years ago) link

It is 27" yeah, from some place in Bolton. Probably heavy, but probably bombproof. Weinemann rims etc. Will need a cassette too, will stick with 5 speed. Seeing as I am not reviving an old classic, as discussed elsewhere, I think I might put on a front rack in the porter/randonneur style so I can hipsterise around.

is that the project california cervelo?

for a $13k frameset, i'd honestly expect a little more. The Venge is $10k cheaper for example.

I got a close look at Ryder Hesjdal's R5ca at the Amgen Tour, and it was pretty mean looking in person. It had the full on slamthatstem.com look going, too. Lots of HTC venges there too, which I also find kind of fugly in that 'humpbacked' way. There were some Scott Foils on display too, which are much much better looking in the Aero-road category IMO.

Shasta what counts as a "little more" in terms of the Cervelo?

Incl fridge I assume.

My recent bike-lust has been focused on shiny metal rims and spokes. Yeah, me neither.

such a fine line with the italian swooshy styled frames - love the cento1, whereas i'm not loving the dogma (but the prince really worked despite it looking almost exactly the same)

lol aesthetics

why does layup look all rumply under seatstay junction- that better be smooth like a mirror irl.

it's ok, if somewhat pudgy and graceless looking. if youre gonna make a frame that fat, at least go internal with the shifter routing.

is it true that Gilbert does not ride carbon (I think I might have read that here?). Or maybe not in the Spring Classics? I'd love to know which frame he does the most damage on.
