This snow is so soft and powdery that it's just been flying around all day even though it isn't actually snowing. Went to downtown Everett today and the view of the mountains from there was A++

I drove a zipcar up north yesterday - it was so cool to see the fluffy swirls of snow on the freeway!

Seattle got effeciently shadowed by the Olympic Mtns. this morning.. which I didn't mind, since the commute wasn't pure hell, just slight hell. (Half of Ballard was on my bus, since their express bus didn't show up.)

I am prepared to walk home to Fremont from downtown after work though, if we do get snow. The buses will be delayed big time because they're only allowed to put chains when they get "the call" i.e. it's too late (I think it's union rules in question, but I could be wrong.)

I like how all the local news sites re: high 30s temperatures are all ITS A TRAP! (the temps are going to dip back down again this afternoon.. convergence zones u so crazy)

I hate it when the damn buses get delayed. Even the last few days I've seen delays just due to more people taking the bus, I guess. I don't have the luxury of walking home tonight.

Hahah. I had to read this a couple of times before I realized you meant something in the inner workings of the car rather than some random item in the back seat that froze and made a terrible noise!

Jaq you can borrow my car while I'm in Denver next week. (Barring a city debilitating 3rd round "snow event"/ Seatac running completely out of de-icer at any price, etc. that keeps me here)

Aw, you're a complete doll to offer! I just heard from Mr. Jaq, who has been following up w/ the mechanics - sounds like we will have it back in time for my interviews on Friday (!!!!!WOOT!!!!!), so I think it will be fine.

Yeah, Mr. Jaq's didn't show up, and there were two CT flexers jack-knifed across 2nd Ave when he was down at the stop. Things look like they're running okay on 4th Ave through downtown (though not so much on the steep cross streets!).

Jaq, in the top photo, what is the building on the left that's all lit up with the huge windows? if that's the same street I'm thinking of, I used to walk down it from 5th and Jackson to get to the 2nd Ave Ext bus stop and I don't recognize it (although it's been a long time).

That said, you can't really recognize Fremont today. At least you can make out downtown clearly.

That's the main fire department. Definitely on the way from 5th to the 2nd Ave Ext stop, but 2 blocks north of Jackson. The street in front of it is Washington.

Heh - I just noticed that reflection of the lamp I didn't turn off, floating eerily above the train tunnel in that first pic.

Maybe you will get some more before xmas - Santarchy on Saturday will be great this year if all this sticks around.

I'm not sure what Spokane got - I'm about an hour south - but we had a couple of inches on the stairs this morning, nothing too bad. It's crazy to see Seattle covered in snow though.

I grew up in Upper Michigan and basically it looks like pretty much every day between November and March there look outside now - white, grey, snowing just because it can, cold but not amazingly so. It's fun a couple times a year but I'm done with it already.

I'm in the Wallingford library. Like downtown and the near north, it's still snowing, but not bitterly cold, accumulating very slowly, up to about 3 or 4 inches where it ain't mashed down by cars n feet. Nice. Went to FUCKING work this FUCKING morning, stood at the bus stop for over an hour before finally catching a 16, but when in finally FUCKING got there, it was closed for the day. Locked up in ways I can't access, so there I was, on the street, in the snow. THANKS FOR THE FUCKING PHONE CALL, GUYS! Umm, nice to have that outta my system. Wish I had pix for y'all, but no goes. Hang tight and be strong.

I've never seen it snow for this long in the city center since I moved here. I have old skool Seattle co-workers that are saying this is the biggest snow hit since 1996.

(i moved here in 2001, so yeah, this is all making all feel cuddly and masnowchistic)
