note also that the teal lights on the floor turn orange when activated
Every time I see an establishing shot from CSI:Miami I think of this thread. That is the tealest, orangest show ever.

I figured out what that pic from yesterday is
Camel Thorn Trees, Namibia
Tinted orange by the morning sun, a soaring dune is the backdrop for the hulks of camel thorn trees in Namib-Naukluft Park.
Even knowing that I'm still having a hard trouble seeing the background as real/a dune. It's like some Magic Eye level optical trickery or something.

The picture that TamTam posted was the one that first caught my eye in the new issue of National Geographic. It's really stunning. National Geographic is total photography porn, every single issue. (Although the last issue with all the super-macro pictures of bugs gave me the leapin' willies.)

Saw a really bad SF/semihorror movie called _Splice_ today. 70% of the movie was in teal, with one or two details in most scenes in bright orange. This thread has improved my life, for it gave me something to have fun with while watching that wretched film.

hmm. I think one positive to this look, is that despite some sense that there is no clear zeigeist/style to this era (which I'm not actually totally convinced of), one thing that will really end up dating it will be this teal and orange look. it'll probably, in hindsight, give the era its own ambience (and perhaps we might even start being able to date certain phases by which color filters are being used - late 90s/early 00s being more grey and green)
