So I got the record and there are some really amazing songs here. As Adam West mentioned above, "Akshon," which subtly samples "The Whole World," "A.D.I.D.A.S.," which has such a fun bounce and "All 4 U," sentimental without being sappy, are all great. I'm halfway through so far, but this disc sounds like a total keeper.

I like the album quite a bit too, it seems to be coming from a similar place as the Majesticons album, though without the very obvious layer of make-believe on beauty party. Especially when he screams stuff like "fuck your hip-hop / this is rap and roll" while wearing a bambaata t-shirt. Also good to hear Andre 3000 expanding on the Neptunes production vibe (see "U Know I Luv U").

i'm sad this hasn't blown up. it's hard to be excited about hip-hop albums when you feel like the radio's playing the single because the record company said so. i hope joe buddens doesn't fizzle like this.

I soured on this a little bit, but now I've come back to it in a big way. All the tracks get more and more nihilistic, until you really fear for the man's future, and then you realize he just doesn't care what happens to him. Hee hee, that's cool.
