You can still play original Drop7 after the update, you just have to dismiss a nag message when you start it up.

― Gravel Puzzleworth, Wednesday, 27 April 2011 19:40 (thirteen years ago) link
yes, it's fun for about 15 minutes, after which point it begins to suck horribly

I liked it but stopped playing pretty quickly. It was my first experience with a rogue-like.

If you happened to be playing Mike Tyson's iPhone game last night, you would have received a Push notification telling you that Osama bin Laden is dead.

oh man you guys unpleasant horse
so simple, so good, it's a "spinoff label" game b/c it's a little "edgier" than usual popcap stuff, kind of the dimension to popcap's miramax, but still so adorably polished
perfect little timekiller

I like to think of it as the Carcassonne to Puzzle Quest's Catan.

All Big Fish games are 90% off ($1.19 each here) for a couple of days. They're those really gorgeous hidden objects/puzzle/etc games, like Drawn HD and stuff.

FYI Infinity Blade is half-off ($2.99) and Chaos Rings is 70% off ($3.99) and if you are into a console-like gaming experience (as opposed to Angry Birds-y timewasters) you wd be extremely unwise not to pick up both of these. I mean these are pretty much two of the top 10 iPhone games ever created, if not top 5.

Suspect C&P might yet say otherwise. But yeah, I'd agree with that.
― JimD, Saturday, 21 May 2011 19:31 (twelve years ago) link
getting both now; don't expect to play them anytime soon, but that's steam pricing.

― crazy donkey winger (forksclovetofu), Saturday, 21 May 2011 21:53 (twelve years ago) link
actually based on the game reviews and images, this looks like my cuppa. gonna make it a ten buck ipad day.
― crazy donkey winger (forksclovetofu), Saturday, 21 May 2011 21:54 (twelve years ago) link
I haven't played Wesnoth yet but I bought it this sale; it's been on my list that I'd buy for a buck but not more.

― taylor, the creator (cozen), Sunday, 22 May 2011 07:08 (twelve years ago) link
no pass and play, no asynchronous online play seem like big issues to me
― taylor, the creator (cozen), Sunday, 22 May 2011 07:11 (twelve years ago) link
Infinity blade is pretty fun after all
― crazy donkey winger (forksclovetofu), Monday, 23 May 2011 01:09 (twelve years ago) link
TtR is a lot more fast-paced than something like Carcassonne or Words With Friends so I'm fine without asynchronous multiplayer. I do hope pass-and-play gets patched in later though.
other games I bought this weekend:
- Hard 8 (EXCELLENT Drop7-type game)- Coin Drop (fun little Peggle-esque timewaster)- Death Rally (used to love this game back in the day. touchscreen controls actually work surprisingly well too!)- Gears (ordinarily ball-rolling games like Marble Madness fill me with rageful rage but this one works since they made the decision to go with touchscreen controls rather than tilt. looks awful purty too.)
― you penis-curling she-devils (jamescobo), Monday, 23 May 2011 17:09 (twelve years ago) link
Ooh, is Coin Drop that Peggle-esque? As far as pick-up/put-down timewasters go, nothing does it for me like Peggle.
― I Like Fuck (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 23 May 2011 17:15 (twelve years ago) link
Coin Drop looked like the old arcade-drop-your-tokens-in moneywaster
― crazy donkey winger (forksclovetofu), Monday, 23 May 2011 17:21 (twelve years ago) link
Peggle has a depth (tons of levels!) and a replay-value to it (trying to get all the red + blue ribbons on each level!) that keep me still playing it after like 10 months.
― I Like Fuck (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 23 May 2011 17:23 (twelve years ago) link
Coin Drop has the same type of system - you can finish a level pretty quickly but three-starring every level is a whole new kettle of fish. there's also a decent little set of skill-based microchallenges - drop a coin in every bucket, level-up all the pegs, etc.
Peggle is legitimately one of my favorite games ever so I don't want to go overboard putting Coin Drop in its league, but if you like that sort of gameplay and have an extra buck this game is a very productive way to spend it.
