I will not e-mail anyone's wife but it is weird to think that I could.

I would gladly get shit hammered in the lodge while the rest of youse try your damnedest to break your necks

Yeah, I think I'm in the kind of physical condition that I would go out for an hour and then be all like, "I need a shower and a sweater and a drink with amaretto in it."

kenan, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 18:48 (sixteen years ago) link

I have only done cross-country skiing. It is very tiring. I went on a ski trip with my dad, my friend, and my friend's dad in Austria. By the time we got back to the lodge in the evening after skiing all day, I was starving. For dinner was fish. You have to realize that as finicky a eater as I am now, I was worse in middle school (when this happened). Plus I have never liked fish. Plus plus this fish was served whole and complete, with head and eyes intact. But I was so tired and so hungry that I ate that fish, and it was delicious.

Skiing is fun! So is pussy (if you're a straight man or a lesbian).

They like to front like they was ballers, but they just smalltime.

Jesse, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 18:55 (sixteen years ago) link

True, but a bunch of dudes spending $800 each on accommodations, looking to bro down away from the wifes...I would have thought that getting drunk up front would be SOP.

Jordan, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 18:55 (sixteen years ago) link

This makes me wonder who we've sent mass emails to in the past...

i had to go back to see what sarah said she liked except skiing. i'm kinda relieved it doesn't seem to be the 'pussy and coke' part of the weekend, but would have respected her choices if it were.

jenny, i'm on a constant search for 'cute comfortable' shoes, but also think i may try to learn to wear slightly less comfy shoes so i can wear things i love but currently only can use as sculpture.

many, many xposts

So did these guys meet in the MBA program at Miami that Howard did? That seems more likely than them having met at American U. in D.C. (where Howard did his undergrad) and then all moving down to Florida.

jaymc, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:08 (sixteen years ago) link

It sounds like some of them are meeting the Ft. Lauderdale crew in Aspen, though?

So when I came back out to my car after lunch, some douchebag driving a shiny new BMW SUV had parked at an angle in the spot next to mine and left about 7 inches between my car and his at my driver's side door. Deciding I really didn't want to crawl through the passenger side I opened my door and squeezed my way in. I didn't throw the door open, nor was I extra gentle either. So I left a little ding in the side of his door. Does that make me an asshole?

My fiancee seems to think so.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:10 (sixteen years ago) link

This is totally sad. I have four Firefox tabs open. One is ILX, and the other three are 1) driving directions from Parkland to Weston, FL, 2) Fred's accounting firm's website, and 3) a Google search for Howard's wife's name.

It didn't occur to me until just now that they could be high school buddies. There's a P3t3r B3rg that lives in the same Florida town that Fred used to live in.

I have to go soon to mentor a dude for a few hours, but I'll check back later for updates on my new ski bros.

I have accepted my lot in life and pretty much just wear Dansko clogs, but I'm old and ornery.

2. Sorry Evan. I am all for other people engaging in winter sports, though!

3. Does that make me an asshole?

A little bit?

4. CPA blood pact = LOL

Jenny, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:18 (sixteen years ago) link

This could be Peter, although he's not a CPA and didn't go to school with Howard. (Which might then reinforce my hypothesis that they went to high school together instead.) He's a business broker.

jaymc, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:23 (sixteen years ago) link

Right. So the general consensus is that this douchebag was in the right to park so I couldn't get in my car. Fuck rich people.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:23 (sixteen years ago) link

No one said that jvc

Another nice Jewish boy.

Jordan, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:24 (sixteen years ago) link

That's a nice blur around the edges of that photo.

Actually, Jon, the consensus seems to be that you were in the right to ding his car. I was the only one who suggested that it would have been less assholeish to, if possible, not put a dent in the rich jerks door.

Jenny, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:25 (sixteen years ago) link

It was defnitely a ding, I don't think it could be classified as a "dent". Hell, I didn't look close, it could have been something you could have rubbed away.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:26 (sixteen years ago) link

Plane on Sex?

jaymc, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:29 (sixteen years ago) link

i probably would have left a note expressing remorse for dinging the door, but also letting the guy know that he's a dick and that, you know, wasn't the whole point of parking diagonally to REDUCE the chance of getting dinged?? Now look where it got you, asshole! Park like a normal guy!

river wolf, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:29 (sixteen years ago) link

Yeah, next time I'll just sit patiently and wait from him to come out and move his car. Christ. I can't believe the shit I'm getting from fiancee for this.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:30 (sixteen years ago) link

jvc pretty succinctly describes the parking anarchy (or "parkarchy" as I like to call it) that invades the teeny tiny little lot we get here. It is also the commuter student's lot and the parking area for a number of U shuttle buses. So it gets pretty crowded. People are constantly taking up 1.5 spots and subjecting each other to door dings. This is why, when I do end up driving to work, I always park the part of my car where the previous owner was sideswiped up against where the driver of the assholishly-parked car will be opening their door. Plus my car is tiny so I can sneak into most of the smallest spots around. I kind of love it because I don't care about my car's appearance at all as long as parts aren't hanging off.

xp: Piece Of Shit

dan m, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:31 (sixteen years ago) link

maybe we should all plan a ski trip and book the condo next to those dudes. but can we do that using their credit cards?

colette, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:32 (sixteen years ago) link

I'd like to see Howard consolidate that debt.
