Which one do you dig? Am I missing an image before MBV and CT?

My Life with the Thrill Kill Nult (Le Bateau Ivre), Friday, 22 April 2011 19:43 (thirteen years ago) link

oh! no, i meant i *liked* the Friends cover but really more for the nostalgia it evoked than it being anything particularly innovative.

but for the count, that You Made Me Realise cover is likely in my top 5 album covers

kelpolaris, Friday, 22 April 2011 19:46 (thirteen years ago) link

er, yeah, guess it didn't show. here's another link:

Are you talking about this? It's not showing up in your original post

(love that song, btw)

Johnny Fever, Friday, 22 April 2011 19:48 (thirteen years ago) link

Ah, thanks for clearing that up! Didn't see the friend crush cover in your original post. And assumed you weren't talking about Weird Al's record being a cross between the two lovely covers you put up ;-)

I'm intruigued by this Friends one btw.

They've got one of the most google-proof names in the world, so here's a helping hand: http://www.facebook.com/sdneirfbackwards

Oh good, it's time for another Damon & Naomi album I'll listen to once, like very much, and then file away never to be listened to again.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 22 April 2011 21:19 (thirteen years ago) link

Thanks for the link Johnny! Wouldn't have guessed 'Sdneirfbackwards'...

I like the Damon & Naomi cover. Unfortunately it will pretty much go like mr. Fever described up here. Which is so stupid of me because I do really like it, nearly all albums. For some reason they get marginalised in my mind.

wow I love that one

VegemiteGrrl, Sunday, 24 April 2011 05:44 (thirteen years ago) link

Pretty Lights covers are so good. Love that pulpy scifi paperback vibe.

owenf, Monday, 25 April 2011 00:13 (thirteen years ago) link

It's unfortunate that he's so awful. He's from a local college town here in CO, Fort Collins, and is p much a shining example of frat boy electro.

kelpolaris, Monday, 25 April 2011 02:57 (thirteen years ago) link

admittedly his moniker tho stems from his light shows, which i've seen and are pretty neat. on drugs.

i just wish he could emphasize the female dolls' nipples a bit more.

thanks. I'm going to have to buy some of this shit. Incredible.

Not so much for the xcover itself, but for the execution of the whole package, the new Explosions in the Sky

You're fucking fired and you know jack shit about horses (James Morrison), Wednesday, 27 April 2011 03:15 (thirteen years ago) link

See I think that Girls Names looks like a hundred other Altered Zones/chillwave covers. That whole aesthetic is just boring for me now, even if it is a pretty photograph.

'what are you, the Hymen Protection League of America?' (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Wednesday, 27 April 2011 03:26 (thirteen years ago) link

i like it a lot, it reminds me of something else that i love i can't quite put my finger on. doesn't hurt that the album is really great too

i love this though, although i don't expect anyone else to. i love every cover this band has done

Reminds me of Depeche Mode ca. Violator art, at least in feeling.

total blah

kelpolaris, Wednesday, 27 April 2011 18:53 (thirteen years ago) link

but as typing that i know there's at least 5 dudes within a 2mile radius of me that would take one look at that, swallow and stand quietly for a while before declaring, "THIS. IS. ART."

I see vaginas in everything though

owenf, Wednesday, 27 April 2011 20:08 (thirteen years ago) link

oh man, Skeletons are bros of mine. like that their shit gets love.

it is his "enigmatic signifier" (the table is the table), Wednesday, 27 April 2011 20:14 (thirteen years ago) link

that art museums album is v. nice! agree with the strange familiarity -- kind of a "miami vice" interpretation of abstract/pop art? not sure how to describe it, but they nailed a very specific aesthetic there.

RIP to Left Eye but Gucci's necklace is (chilli), Wednesday, 27 April 2011 22:05 (thirteen years ago) link

Art Museums reminds me of Tusk, for some reason. Obviously it's like a lot of '80s covers as well.

Hippocratic Oaf (DavidM), Wednesday, 27 April 2011 22:25 (thirteen years ago) link

You know Skeletons, table? I kicked about with Tony a bit when he was over in the UK for a while and saw them play - lovely guys and a great band.
