It's Boobie Tuesday! (cue music)

VegemiteGrrl, Tuesday, 5 April 2011 13:56 (thirteen years ago) link

The Josh Pearson one is esp. annoying given the ironic(?) title of the record; I've been meaning to post that one here myself. The other two are just ugly.

Katy B On A Mission LP cover is a disappointment - I suppose the intention was to 'keep it real' but it just looks cheap and nasty to me. Also, I hate blue tint.

Thats only the deluxe edition cover though, I like it better than the standard.

She Got the Shakes, Wednesday, 6 April 2011 15:09 (thirteen years ago) link

like the album cover, but the upside-down cross - both in application on the art here and w/ Odd Future in general - just seems like overkill. it's like "look, here's MORE things to remember us by!!". I mean their ridiculously long name is enough.

kelpolaris, Wednesday, 6 April 2011 17:23 (thirteen years ago) link

not a huge fan, but can't find fault with that album cover. seems to sum up their aesthetic really well.

rockapads, Wednesday, 6 April 2011 21:01 (thirteen years ago) link

^^ otm

the upside down cross evokes the chillwave witchhouse aesthetic

diamonddave85, Wednesday, 6 April 2011 21:56 (thirteen years ago) link

the goblin deluxe is cool cuz i don't think any OF release has had an image of the artist on the cover -- also a portrait shot is a pretty common cover motif in rap but the font/upside down cross still keep it grounded in their aesthetic

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 6 April 2011 22:00 (thirteen years ago) link

prefer the wild bill cover personally

congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 6 April 2011 22:55 (thirteen years ago) link

Yeah, with all the effort put to those letters, you'd think someone would've noticed the typo?

Tuomas, Saturday, 9 April 2011 16:28 (thirteen years ago) link

It's not a typo.

It's actually really disco-y. I bet Tuomas would be into it.

Yeah, I've been waiting for some of his original material since his remixes started showing up a couple years ago.

good lord that is terrible

J0rdan S., Monday, 11 April 2011 04:03 (thirteen years ago) link

ha very 90s

banjee trillness (The Reverend), Monday, 11 April 2011 04:20 (thirteen years ago) link

Except that the 90s would've demanded the pattern to be in some bright colour and the text to be in some other bright colour. B&w is boring.

I don't know what to say about that, but I love those colors.

And it has to be said, that is 1,000s of times better than their previous album.

The fronds are totally lifelike, but I'm not sure a trunk that thin would support them (or maybe it would...there about so many different kinds of palms).

That's why they call me (Johnny Fever), Monday, 11 April 2011 14:57 (thirteen years ago) link

^ exactly what was bugging me! They've gone too close to the edge of the trunk with their axis of reflection.

ridic beau (NickB), Monday, 11 April 2011 15:01 (thirteen years ago) link

Perhaps they weren't going for verisimilitude here.
