Can't miss their unusual version of "I Saw Her Standing There" which turns into an S&M party in which the girl hits the singer with her broom.

I've got a 3 sided lp of BBC sessions called "Uncle Harry" (one of the sides of the 2lp set is etched with flying pigs). Has a totally shredful version of "The Snake" on it. I think it's probably a bonus on one of the cd releases or something. Also has a nice cover of "lucille" and a couple takes of "Uncle Harry" and "DO IT."

i think this is more or less the same as "mandies and mescaline round at uncle harry's" - though if it contains those really ass-fidelity covers of "tomorrow never knows" and "3/5ths of a mile" it might be split between mandies and that cleopatra comp. so annoying that you have to get both of those if you want the best quality glastonbury and bbc sessions, since they're radically different in sound on those two discs.

"What a Bunch of Sweeties" deserves way more props I think. Everything about their version of "Walk Don't Run" is killer! The lazy, just on the right side of sloppy feel, the amazing guitar tone, deep, heavy drums, and the bit where it goes into sort of ragarock mode at the end, crank it up on a decent set of speakers and it feels like it could move stuff around the room. It's one of my favouritest records.

Was just talking about Pink Fairies with someone the other day funnily enough.

This is true. It's really pretty good, just a little too self-indulgent at times.

Also "Chambermaid" from Kings is so fucking good.

Bought some time ago the Finland Freakout cd that contains insanely massive versions of Tomorrow Never Knows and The Snake - hippy-punk at its best.

Finland Freakout and one song on a Stiff Singles comp are the only PF material on Spotify

I have and it's definitely worth reading! Pretty basic history of the time, but very interesting if you're into the Pink Fairies or the Ladbroke Grove bands, free festivals, etc. Not being British a lot of that was new to me.

so if I love Kings of Oblivion, which Deviants album do I need? (I've never knowingly heard the Deviants and only I know of them via their connection to the Fairies)

You have to dive into the Deviants, 'cause there's no real direct analogy with the PFs.
