also, there was as much Stockard Channing in Grease about Lulu as Curry (who none of us in the room named, and should've--maybe if Dave Q had arrived earlier he would've)

Electric Six? Now that's offensive.
I still think Nick and Jessica as Alfie & Bibi.

Dave Q. came after I left? Dammit. Would've liked to've met him.

HAHA.. what better candidate for the BIM band, then? :)

I still think Nick and Jessica as Alfie & Bibi.

As long as it wasn't Mates of States.

I think the White Stripes would be best still, because then Meg White (when she became evil Bibi) would do a collaborative song with The Electric Six about drugs, put on lots of make up, and sneer "SPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED!!".

America, the land of the brave
Is popping pills to keep up the pace

Or however it goes. The White Stripes comparison is mighty fine, but who plays Mr. Bim himself?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 1 March 2005 01:16 (nineteen years ago) link

Christopher Walken, duh

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Tuesday, 1 March 2005 01:24 (nineteen years ago) link

And Eugene from Oxbow plays his assistant

Eugene in action.

anyway, if we really wanted to be offensive, we'd put M. Ward in the movie

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Tuesday, 1 March 2005 01:29 (nineteen years ago) link

You mean Bibi & Alphie = Chan Marshall & M. Ward?

donut debonair (donut), Tuesday, 1 March 2005 21:22 (nineteen years ago) link

Freaking out on stage, the UNIVERSAL MELODY!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 1 March 2005 21:25 (nineteen years ago) link

Oh, give me the RED TAPE!

"But what anybody hears about this?"

"Then you're dead... VERY dead!" *prances off*

donut debonair (donut), Tuesday, 1 March 2005 21:30 (nineteen years ago) link

nah, I just said that to tweak Kate (she hates Electric Six, whom I like; I dislike M. Ward, whom she likes). we laughed about it over the phone.

See, donut, and you wonder why I keep making bits from this film into sig files.

Well, if there's ever THE APPLE 2006, it's so fucking obvious that the BIM band should be played by Electric Six with a full choreography.

This is incorrect. The Electric Six will be too busy playing the part of the nĂ¼-Tubes in Xanadu 2006.

i am still really upset xanadu 2006 is not happening.

oKAY WELL LOOK i CAN'T FIND THE xANADU THREAD i WANTED. iT'S THE ONE WHERE...dONUT AND mATOS PLAY A TRICK ON EVERYONE...I CAN'T REMEMBER THE NAME OF IT NOW..
ANYWAY...

i JUST RENTED THIS RECENTLY BECAUSE i WANTED TO SEE IT AGAIN FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE i WAS 9 YEARS OLD.

aND THE ROCK AND ROLL PART IS SO FUNNY - IT'S SO POST-PUNK - IT'S TRYING TO CAPTURE THAT MOMENT IN MUSICAL HISTORY WHEN THE ROCK BAND WITH THE GUY WHO LOOKS LIKE fEE WAYBILL FROM THE tUBES HAS A MARK OF MAKEUP ON HIS CHEEK, DIAGONAL LIKE AND HE SINGS "lOVER i WON'T TAKE A BACK SEAT TONIGHT/OOH OOH LOVER GETTING ON MY TWO FEET TONIGHT/"

aND IT'S SUCH A PERIOD PIECE IT REALLY IS. I MEAN SHIT THIS WAS BEFORE THERE WAS EVEN ANY BOY GEORGE. THEY WERE TRYING TO CAPTURE THE POST PUNK MOMENT, BUT THEY MISSED BY NOT HAVING ENOUGH SYNTHESIZERS. aND THE GUY IN THE MOVIE SAYS "OH YEAH SYNTHESIZERS, ROCK BAND, ETC." BUT THEY JUST MISSED IT. bARELY. cAUSE IT'S TOO ROCK AND ROLL. aND THIS WAS 1980 AND EVEN POST PUNKERS WERE VIRGINS, ETC.

Anyway, when I was kid I was crazy about the soundtrack for this movie, all around. And I thought it was the best thing in the world when those music folks from the 40's came together with the modern sound of the rock band. Yeah, I thought that was the shit.

Hey, wasn't Cliff Richard in this fucking thing?
