Martin Skidmore [RIP 2011]

Look towards the positive as he suggests -- best wishes for him, for sure.

I kept meaning to email him for ages and never did it.

If you're friends with him on Facebook I strongly suggest reading his note he just posted.

I'm not on FB, but he emailed me an hour ago as I emailed him the other day. I still haven't been able to work out what to say in a reply. All my best thoughts go out to you Martin if you're reading this.

had a gd long chat w martin. he doesn't want his illness to be any kind of secret and is happy for ppl to talk abt it on ilx. he also thanked ppl for their emails and gd wishes, here and elsewhere.

one thing that wld cheer him up, i think, is to get many more submissions for FA

This is really upsetting. RIP Martin.
Wasn't expecting it as the last email i got from him was on june 21st and he said he was hoping for 2 or 3 months without treatment as the growth had stopped growing due to chemo and hoped he could put some weight back on that he had lost.

We lost a good guy.

Really sad to hear that. RIP.

Didn't know him personally but have always enjoyed his (many, many) contributions to The Singles Jukebox, and am also really grateful to him for getting me into the manga Nana through a lovely piece about it on freakytrigger.

i didnt know Martin, but you could tell that he was a good guy, and he always had interesting shit to say about a bunch of different subjects.

What a wonderful person, I don't know what to say. I'm so glad I knew him.

Martin was one of the first ILX people I got to know when I first came here a decade ago and I always enjoyed chatting with him either here or over IM. This is a bit of a shock because I haven't been in close touch with him recently. We all lost one of the good guys today. :(
