^i heard "cop" for "car" (and thought the Woo! was supposed to be a siren)

i can't see how that works, unless the 'haters' are the people that are confused and think "Friday" is a normal hit song with the support of the music industry and are outraged that people sincerely like something so bad (xpost)

granted, there do seem to be a fair number of people with that misconception

this song still sucks and is unintentionally hilarious. i'm not rooting for Rebecca but not rooting against her either. in 3 days I'll have forgotten about this just like I did Pants on the Ground

I would appear that from the comments on youtube and iTunes for the song and the "worst song ever written" in the press that, yes, much of the (young) audience is believing that this is being dished out to them by the music industry, one which decides what is good and who we shall make stars of. I mean I could be wrong but I have doubts any kind of fraction of those 13 whatever million views care about "outsider music".
