I don't get why people feel sorry for her. I'm guessing she's probably psyched about all the attention that she's getting and the fact that her crappy song probably will turn out to be a legitimate hit. She's probably making major career plans right now!
― Moodles, Thursday, 17 March 2011 17:31 (thirteen years ago) link
even as young as she is, she was waaaay more aware that her likeness was going to be beamed out to the internet for admiration or ridicule than the overwhelming majority of youtube superstars

xp - Yeah but that's kind of unlikely to work out for her.

i mean think of all the people we've laughed at who thought they were making a home movie or public access show that would be seen by 10 people, or who didn't even know there was a camera on them at the time

It's probably already worked out better than she expected. The rest is gravy.

i think what will bear her psyche up in these go-go days of meme overload is the thought that "there is something about me that seems to hook people, even if the song IS bad" and i don't think she'd be wrong

Am I the only one that sees a contemporary parallel to the whole song-poem "Beat of the Traps" MSR sort of pay someone to record your song scheme? I mean, clearly RB brought her own lyrics. Right? I hope?

Scott, I am almost 100% certain someone released that on Wax Trax! in 1988.

xxxxp janet jackson's chorus doesn't really mesh well with the fun fun loop, but when it's just busta rapping over it, it's a crazy new sort of greatness...

At press time, the song was number 54 on the iTunes charts, ahead of Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Ke$ha.
But most of the feedback for the video involved questions like why are 13 year olds driving? Or why are they being followed by an adult rapper? Or is this a joke?

& from the interview Ned posted, clearing up some of the rich kid questions
Acing a casting-call audition, Black was invited to record one of two songs label heads had written for her. And, as part of a $2,000 package her mother paid for, they offered to produce an accompanying video in a bid to make a splash on YouTube. The song she picked: “Friday.”
“I didn’t write it at all,” Black said, clearing up a major misconception.
