I'd be okay calling King Diamond power metal...but then that drags me into well then what's Mercyful Fate...and in my dark little attic of a mind, they're both just kind of sitting there on their own, in their own category. Because, well...fuck, that's how it should be.

the glam Pantera hair makes me LOL and LOL and LOL mainly bc Anselmo looked like Rikki Rockett and no amount of hardcore dickishness can ever remove that image from my mind which is why I giggle whenever I see him

as per the key law of this thread you must now be unnecessarily hostile to yourself

Head goes goes goes (Schlafsack), Thursday, 17 March 2011 05:15 (thirteen years ago) link

no disrespect to anyone (aside from wimps, posuers, etc) but if Mercyful Fate is power metal, then the Ramones are 90's Lookout Records pop-punk

CharlieS, Thursday, 17 March 2011 05:29 (thirteen years ago) link

I never said Mercyful Fate were power metal AND I WILL GOUGE OUT YOUR EYES WITH MY RUSTY SPOON FOR READING IT AS SUCH

VegemiteGrrl, Thursday, 17 March 2011 05:31 (thirteen years ago) link

wait you eat with a spoon? my confidence is shaken in you. knives do everything spoons do, only sharper and more swordlike.

O_o-O_0-o_O (jjjusten), Thursday, 17 March 2011 05:35 (thirteen years ago) link

Nay I do not eat with my spoon, a plague on you for suggesting such...like the many weapons at my disposal I consider the rusty spoon yet another brush that I use to creat my art...part of the panopoly of instruments with which I draw the agonised screams of the vanquished

one time a friend mistakenly dialed my my number (name starts with an "a," it happens a lot) and left me a voice mail that was just a half hour of him driving around and listening to yngwie malmsteen.

listening to Yngwie Malmsteen is like listening to a precocious, lonely teenager masturbate

Yngwie answering machine story is amazing!
have any of you ever tried to play a guitar w/ a scalloped neck?
I almost namechecked Chris Impellitteri the other day. Shrapnel shred isn't really proper power metal, though, I guess.

don't really consider Malmsteen in the proper Viking-hard-charging style of heavy metal though I'm sure all the bands who are unambiguously power metal would rep for him all day

mainly I just wrote that sentence to distract power metal haters while I put sugar in their gas tanks or in the case of the inevitable crashing bore who's primed to type "I don't have a car!", to drop a deuce on the screen right where you last typed your name

computer looks and smells awesome now you dickheads
