i feel like one of the things abt this song is how shes says which seat can i take instead of which seat should i take - i mean she really cant figure out which seat is available even - shes standing right there - im sure this has been mentioned

maybe she has alpha female status, and therefore has the option of claiming shotgun & demanding that "flow hands" girl move to the back (though, being a benevolent dictator, she allotted herself backseat status).
