What is Cadel's body fat %, dude is incredibly lean right now. The way he made zipping up those 19% ramps yesterday look so damn easy was really unbelievable.

Anybody else watching what Fabian just did / is doing at the E3 today? Yow! Start engraving his name on the RVV and PR trophies now.

something very relaxing about watching Gent - Wevelghem live with Vlaamse commentary.

jesus - Cav with an off again, missed the actual incident as I'm flitting around trying to find a decent stream

the WCC video of fabian picking off all the breaks at E3 is amazing - every other strong rider has to team up and keep hitting him with attacks at flanders otherwise he'll just choose his moment and ride away.

The work of rabid Boonen fans?

Makka Pakka, eh? I suspect this story will seem less distressing on 2nd April.

Wow. So, Boonen made his move, Cancellara countered, then put the hammer down, bridged to Chavannel, opened up a gap of a minute, Boonen couldn't find anyone to help him chase, game over - the same old story. Except suddenly it wasn't.

in a wonderful balloon! (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Sunday, 3 April 2011 19:09 (thirteen years ago) link

What a race!

sous les paves, Sunday, 3 April 2011 23:22 (thirteen years ago) link

what do yall think boonen was playing at there - all i can think is that he was hoping to hang onto cancellara until they caught chavanel, then they'd try to double-team him or something?

think he might've just got a bit over-excited tbh. it made the race tho!

stop whatever you're doing and watch the finale of today's pais vasco, it's fucking awesome-- pros caught out on the steepness of the final climb, walking it. even the leaders were just barely turning over.

basque autotranslate:
"The final part of the climb to La Antigua, with nearly 800 m close to 16% on average (and maximum gradients exceeding 20%) is a good trap."

"It’s hard to win all by yourself in those conditions,” Cancellara said. “It was full-gas all day. There was no rest. My team did what they could, but Garmin was the strongest team today. We don’t have to search for excuses. They played it smart today. Now they get that victory they were searching for for a long, long time. I gave the maximum today, I cannot say more than that.”

signing for a gt team?

it shouldnt even be close. to be fair, im not clear that he really values classics results over gt tts and the rest.

ahh, vaughters' accent and inflection there is not standard 'merkin. it sounds really affected to me, but what do i know.

(i've spoken with him before, and he did not sound like that.)

post-defeat butthurt happens here (Hunt3r), Monday, 11 April 2011 17:20 (thirteen years ago) link

I see what you mean, he doesn't sound very American there, but from your description I was expecting Inspector Clouseau.
