i like how the lyrics expose the inherent mundanity of stream-of-consciousness, it's like...the brain in repose

I'm pretty impressed that she craves a "bowl" before even having breakfast, that is hardcore

40% chill and 100% negative (Tracer Hand), Monday, 14 March 2011 23:44 (thirteen years ago) link

Wait why's she still asking which seat to take once she's already in the damn back seat cruisin down the green-screen way?

le grenouille mange le pomplamousse (Trayce), Monday, 14 March 2011 23:46 (thirteen years ago) link

You'll all be surprised when this places #1 on the 2011 EOY poll.

what do it take to be a legend like noz is? (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Monday, 14 March 2011 23:47 (thirteen years ago) link

46. how her singing is so monotonous and staccato that it sounds like someone typing morse code with a telegraph machine

congratulations (n/a), Monday, 14 March 2011 23:47 (thirteen years ago) link

47. the fucking seizure-inducing mirror image of herself during WE SO SO SO EXCITED. it's like her molecules are reaching escape velocity and peeling off into a mirror version of herself which will go on to star in "Saturday"

40% chill and 100% negative (Tracer Hand), Monday, 14 March 2011 23:52 (thirteen years ago) link

do you think she eats cereal on Saturday, too?

sarahel, Monday, 14 March 2011 23:53 (thirteen years ago) link

in the entire breakfast section she doesn't blink once, just the fixed stare and a monotone about cereal. capturing the true essence of all our mornings.

lex pretend, Monday, 14 March 2011 23:54 (thirteen years ago) link

tbh - i drink coffee in the morning and blink a lot.

sarahel, Monday, 14 March 2011 23:54 (thirteen years ago) link

cant wait for her ep of super sweet sixteen

plax (ico), Monday, 14 March 2011 23:54 (thirteen years ago) link

the girl in the jeans video is better, i think.

yeah the jeans video one is so hamming it up and like into it, this girl just seems like she was going w/ it. idk arent spoiled rich thirteen yr olds all supposed to be doing coke and having sex parties in their parents summer house or something? when i was that age nobody would have been lame enough to think this fake hanna montana shit was a vaguely acceptable thing to do but maybe thats just bc my friends were all awesome and cool

plax (ico), Tuesday, 15 March 2011 00:00 (thirteen years ago) link

she just reminds me of the kind of girl that would audition for a community theater play and sing "A Little Fall of Rain" from Les Miz, but would get confused and kinda break down when the accompanist plays the song in a different key from the one she practiced in.

sarahel, Tuesday, 15 March 2011 00:01 (thirteen years ago) link

^

40% chill and 100% negative (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 15 March 2011 00:02 (thirteen years ago) link

the jeans video girl would totally get a part in any community theater production of Annie.

sarahel, Tuesday, 15 March 2011 00:02 (thirteen years ago) link

there was an mtv show that basically did exactly this btw

plax (ico), Tuesday, 15 March 2011 00:03 (thirteen years ago) link

lol "enhanced cd"

plax (ico), Tuesday, 15 March 2011 00:07 (thirteen years ago) link

unless these guys aren't just rich-parent-hustlers but creepy pedos (that one "5 days with CJ Fam" video has the camera following CJ and her little friend into an abandoned shed in the woods for some reason), they should totally exploit this net buzz for their own MTV series.

da croupier, Tuesday, 15 March 2011 00:11 (thirteen years ago) link

also holy shit no one's posted the CJ Fam video yet

It's about a small child who could maybe get a callback for Annie on Broadway wrestling with the price of fame

Its like a professional version of those insta-studios you can go to, karaoke it up in front of a greenscreen and then burn it to CD.

I was at a recording studio that gets a lot of big-paycheck clients, big place with multiple studios, and while we were there in like the C studio over in D was the daughter of a guy who owns this massive company whose products I have enjoyed since I was a child. They had 1) hired some of the people who write hits for Britney etc and 2) hired a vocal coach and 3) hired musicians to a) write a record for their daughter b) teach her to sing it and c) track it, at full studio rates. they were there for a week working all day on something that will never see the light of day, just indulging their idea that enough money & successful people could make their daughter a pop diva.

I'm pretty impressed that she craves a "bowl" before even having breakfast, that is hardcore

this made me lol really hard

Have you heard the tapes?!

for real molars who ain't got no fillings (Hurting 2), Tuesday, 15 March 2011 00:42 (thirteen years ago) link

Let me explain to him in simple arithmetic. One, two three! Because you don't fuckin' get it, Burt! You give us the tapes. We get the record contract. We come back and give you your fuckin' money. Have you heard the tapes? Have you even heard them? We're guaranteed a record deal. Our stuff is that good!

for real molars who ain't got no fillings (Hurting 2), Tuesday, 15 March 2011 00:43 (thirteen years ago) link

For serious it is interesting how the Ark model is different from the old vanity stuff. You have autotune, which makes it really easy to make a talentless singer sound catchy and tuneful, and you have youtube, which makes the distribution costs nothing. So you can record high production value vanity shit for people, charge them a lot of money, and then put it out there easily, and if it takes off, more money for you, if not, no big deal.

this is fucking bonechilling

Holy shit that CJ Fam one is creepy as fuck! Whats with the two producer dudes and their leery smiles and nods? *&^^$

Also she totally looks like the kind of indulged fat brat who does precisely this kind of thing (or beauty contests) at the behest of pushy parents. UGH.

cj fam is deeply pomo

ice cr?m, Tuesday, 15 March 2011 00:49 (thirteen years ago) link

oh man, the CJ Fame "behind the scenes with ark entertainment" vid I referred to has been made private.

da croupier, Tuesday, 15 March 2011 00:53 (thirteen years ago) link

Fam, I mean. I guess only exclusive members of the Ark Ent family get to know about the shed, now.

da croupier, Tuesday, 15 March 2011 00:54 (thirteen years ago) link

CJ's comments are still loaded with obvious plants going "fantastic voice!".

some people here have probably not even heard Alana Lee's "Butterflies", and that makes me sad b/c it is a much better song than "Friday":
