ke$ha remains relentlessly unlistenable. her vooooooiiiiiiice. nails, blackboard.

at first i agreed 100%, and then something turned and her voice is one of my favorites. that's not much of a phenomenon though. i do think pop history will look very kindly on her in time.

I couldn't stand her originally. Now I have no idea what bugged me about her - I think she's a great pop star and she distracts me from Katy Perry. Cute freckles, too.

XP yes her voice sucks, but her music doesn't call for an amazing voice.. and she doesn't pretend to be an amazing singer. finally a female pop-star who doesn't release sappy ballads every 3rd single.

i think i'm lost lex and maybe i missed your point. saying "punk sucked" isn't dead end?

punk is massively more important for how it changed the way ppl approached music than it is for the perceived quality of the music it produced, so dismissing it with "punk sucked" doesn't actually work if you want to have a serious conversation

lex, k's voice occasionally lacks the "grating"ness esp in her ballads, though her ballads are typically her worst ones. her voice is actually v versatile (even without autotune!) and she has some impressive range.

do her vox in "animal" bother you? they're pretty pretty, very clean, and the song is fantastic

also "c u next tuesday" is as vocally non-grating as it gets tho the song as a whole isn't v good. "the harold song" is her best ballad (one of her best songs imo) but the chorus gets screamy. the verses are still wonderful and make me tear up. i'm trying to find a good comparison to what her voice sounds like/what she does with it when she gets softer, but all i can think of is "celtic." i know there's a point of reference somewhere but it's not coming to me.

would be remiss to forget "stephen" if we're talking about clean vox, but i know you hate the autotune.

It's not terrible, it's okay. Just seems like rehashed Kesha on autopilot, though.

if you stay away for that long and come back with something that boring as your lead single, the bar is raised to the point that mediocre is terrible

this just sounds like another Dr. Luke track. was Dr. Luke involved with "Good Feeling"? it sounds like that. somewhat surprising that lack of prominent autotune neither works for or against it.

Kind of reminds me of Starships, which is probably the only song of the last year or so that will get more play at DC gay places than this.

Heard the new one for the first time on the radio today right after that awful Owl City/CRJ song. It started off sounding basically exactly the same, and then there was a chorus about dying young and I was like whaaa and then I realized it was Ke$ha and it was almost like an antidote to the song I had just heard. I like it.

i don't expect a sophomore album's lead single to a pop album to ever break new ground, though this doesn't sound quite like her other big leads

luke and co seem totally uninspired tho with that dance breakdown. love the verses, reminds me of fall out boy in a way
