with the write ups and all? i figured that would be rude (and just a waste of space). but if that's what you want, i've noted it for next year.

deadair (deadair), Friday, 30 December 2005 12:23 (eighteen years ago) link

hey, i didn't vote for it. i've actually not heard it. i don't think i'd like it.

Yeah, it's... not good (I'm being charitable).

Also, to cranky anonymous guy. Jake's been posting here on and off for better than a year, and only occasionally brings up his own site. Save your spam hatred for those more deserving.

2005 was an amazing year for independent music...

Well, it's better than reading Pitchdork, I guess.

ESTEBAN BUTTEZ~!!! (ESTEBAN BUTTEZ~!!!), Friday, 30 December 2005 12:25 (eighteen years ago) link

not so good as in the last 10? yeah, i know. i'm hapy with the rest of the list though.

deadair (deadair), Friday, 30 December 2005 12:27 (eighteen years ago) link

Nah, not good as in the Antony album itself. His contrived freak shit rubs me the wrong way.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Friday, 30 December 2005 12:32 (eighteen years ago) link

i like this list, for there are a lot of names on it i need to check out. never heard of them before, to me that's the point of lists

rizzx, Friday, 30 December 2005 12:35 (eighteen years ago) link

and thanks for posting those links, i appreciate that a lot

rizzx, Friday, 30 December 2005 12:38 (eighteen years ago) link

no problem rizzx. glad you like the list.

yeah Johnny, i agree. we actually had a heated debate on our writers board about that guy. even the talk about him made me never want to hear the album. but so be it, i opened up the list for the first time as a "vote"... i can't very well bitch about it now. but i am happy that Logh and Jesu are on the top ten. both are great albums.

deadair (deadair), Friday, 30 December 2005 13:02 (eighteen years ago) link

i dont understand Loghs appeal, i know they have interesting ideas but somehow they dont come across in the final result.

rizzx, Friday, 30 December 2005 13:07 (eighteen years ago) link

which albums have you heard? i actually think this new album takes away to grow on you. i was actually disapointed at first, but ended up totally falling in love with them. but honestly, i love pretty much everything they have put out.

deadair (deadair), Friday, 30 December 2005 13:09 (eighteen years ago) link

yeah the last one, its cool it does something like that for you. i dont think i'll ever play it again

rizzx, Friday, 30 December 2005 13:16 (eighteen years ago) link

give the first and second albums a shot. you might like them if you dig the mopy(sp?)/dreamy sort of dark pop. it also might make you go back and check out this last one... as it's kind of a drier/grown up version of their first efforts.

deadair (deadair), Friday, 30 December 2005 13:20 (eighteen years ago) link

i get the dark dronepop feel, but it dissapoints ultimately. will give those other albums a chance

rizzx, Friday, 30 December 2005 13:25 (eighteen years ago) link

even just search for some tracks off them. i swear, the first albums have a more immediate appeal.

deadair (deadair), Friday, 30 December 2005 13:27 (eighteen years ago) link

it amazes me when people like: "big campus on man" rant on about rubbish perceptions of what is spam.

I bet this person was NOT on ILM in August 2000 when it started ! So has no power to lay the law down.

ILM is an open music discussion forum - not closed ! And the links were relevant to thread so no problem.

Having said that now that the 50 countdown is completed, a summary list would be ace.

DJ Martian (djmartian), Friday, 30 December 2005 14:51 (eighteen years ago) link

which i should post, you are right. it's just the way i had it formatted for posting it would have been kind of a pain in the ass when i first started the thread..

i'll boil it down to the actual list and post it later.

Precious Fathers is brilliant and awesome!

Huk-L (Huk-L), Friday, 30 December 2005 16:12 (eighteen years ago) link

And I think I like Langhorne Slim. Oh wait, nah, not really.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Friday, 30 December 2005 16:14 (eighteen years ago) link

really? i like that dude.

deadair (deadair), Friday, 30 December 2005 16:17 (eighteen years ago) link

I've only heard one of his songs ("Loretta Lee Jones" on the Start Yr Own Country comp), and I think there's a lot to like about it, but it's just not my thing. Very high & lonesome. It's not bad, and I think I like it more than I'm making it out to seem, but I was thinking of someone else at first, who I like more.
