Listening to his 1985 solo album «Straight Ahead» for the first time, tipped off by Mark Lanegan in «Sing Backwards and Weep», in which he refers to the album as one of the primary inspirations for «The Winding Sheet».

It’s good, sounds pretty much like you’d expect an acoustic Wipers-album to sound. But it lingers.

Yes! I discovered it a while back and felt it was almost ambient. I don't think it was distributed widely hence it feeling unknown.
