I especially like the Triumphant Quartet, for reasons that a view of their photo will make all too clear.

Frank Arnold has put together an Alaskan package that is hands down the best Christian-based Alaskan cruise for the 2011 season.
Dare I ask what's the worst?

The Ryan and Friends photo is creeping me out.

So do you think Barry Goldwater would be sponsoring Christian Cruises if he was around today?

Amount of closeted gay men in that photo? At least two.

Similarly, "Jeff and Sheri Easter" appears to be a shared persona of no fewer than five people. Or the worst band name ever. Or something. Meanwhile, "Dixie Echoes" is, like everything else associated with this cruise, really, really, really white.

I will concede the sound guy doesn't count. A friend of mine suggested that the piano player doesn't count as he just accompanies the 4 singers but I call bullshit on that.
― Elegant Bitch (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Wednesday, 23 February 2011 16:51 (thirteen years ago) link
it's extra bullshit since he counts enough to be in the promotional photos
― DJP, Wednesday, 23 February 2011 17:01 (thirteen years ago) link
SERIOUSLY.

On a boat etc.

The irony of a Christian gospel gathering on a steroidal pleasure boat is not lost on the Freedom Cruisers (for one thing, Southern Baptists don’t drink). While they sit in this darkened theatre, their fellow passengers are gambling, attending seminars on how to get a celebrity smile and flawless skin, playing bingo, watching a slideshow on Jackie Kennedy’s jewellery, or taking part in one of the contests—earlier I saw Debby from Kansas City and Wendy from Phoenix shake their asses before a cheering crowd to win a Raspberry Crème Brûlée Martini.

One of those cruises led to us all knowing who Sarah Palin is:
http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2008/10/27/081027fa_fact_mayer
Qithin a few months of being sworn in she and others in her circle noticed that a blogger named Adam Brickley had started a movement to draft her as Vice-President. Palin also learned that a number of prominent conservative pundits would soon be passing through Juneau, on cruises sponsored by right-leaning political magazines. She invited these insiders to the governor’s mansion, and even led some of them on a helicopter tour.

Maggie Benedict and Jinx Drda from suburban St Louis were also greatly disappointed to hear Huckabee had bowed out of the presidential race. They’ve always voted but it wasn’t until Obama’s victory that they became more active in politics.“It’s the first time I’ve felt the president wasn’t a true American,” Maggie says. “And that he wants to become a dictator. We didn’t like seeing him get elected because of his race.”

From ned's link:
The rest of the field includes a pizza magnate, Herman Cain; an arch conservative, former senator, Rick Santorum, who has what is euphemistically described as “a Google problem”...
I enjoyed big lols at "Google problem". Good work, internet!

This seems like the most appropriate thread to revive. I imagine every cruise to be a cruise with mike huckabee. Even before the corona virus it seemed like a great way to get trapped in a confined space with terrible people and catch a dose of food poisoning, noro-virus or intense boredom.
So has anyone here been on a cruise?

Feeling a bit loopy today so I’m gonna post for the first time in a billon years and say ‘yes, I have cruised’. My second to last job was with the lately beleaguered Pr*ncess Cruises. 1) I went to Alaska with my mom, like you do 2) it actually is kind of relaxing 3) people will go out of their way not to wash their motherfucking hands
