Made this track in an afternoon with a mate and some vodka in October. Not the best thing ever, but what the hey.

I've recorded some demos, but the mixing is atrocious, so I'll just post this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGuGsutualE

I've spent about 4 years trying to figure out how to play in that style, while at the same time getting into dance music. So obviously, the next step is to find someone who can replicate 2 step and UK garage beats on a drum kit, and have a delightfully incongruous Dadrock/Funky house band!

Just recorded some more low-quality cassette demo tracks. The first four are the new ones:

Also, really diggin' the m bison/surm track.

Fetchboy, Thursday, 3 March 2011 18:29 (thirteen years ago) link

Sounds almost like a non-operatic electro Associates with early 90's rave synths. I'm diggin it; is that you singing? The guitar on the third track fits in well with the electronics; since hearing the Dirtbombs album I've become really enamoured of the idea

Franklin_The_Turtle, Thursday, 3 March 2011 22:40 (thirteen years ago) link

Glad you're diggin it! I was originally intent on this project having no guitar, but couldn't help myself. And yeah, unfortunately right now it's all me, but if I can get it up and running I'd like to enlist some help from friends for live performances and help in fleshing some things out.

Cool guitar. I can't do that stretchy chord shape because my little finger's too short.

Excuses, excuses ; ) When I was in Ecuador, I saw fisherman with half missing fingers play stuff that would piss all over what I did there.

Theres a post yr elbow thread, so why not fingers?

Heh, that cover took balls. Might go over well in germany w/ that digi riddim and a white MC doing it in patois

We should have a thread where beatsmiths make riddims for people to put guitar/ vocals etc over

temporarily converting my poemtumblr into a musictumblr as I try to write+record a song per day throughout the month of april — been covering a bunch of songs I like and think are "well-written" for practice/preparation — here is my crack at an underrated Destroyer gem

What instrument is being played by the guy sitting to the right of the keyboard player? Looks like he's doing some mixer feedback but then there's something else further down that I can't make out.

did you notice "you spin me round" was playing in the background? (snoball), Monday, 11 April 2011 12:49 (thirteen years ago) link

he's mostly using an old record player and a piece of aluminium foil through a mixer and some effects. so as soon as everyone else starts playing in such a small setting it's basically a noisy microphone...

This is my album. I wanted to do a little more continuity work and also see about getting an actual release, but I no longer have the time to spend on it. It's melodic detroit/houseish/video game-ish electronic music.

Wanted to see what 'swamp house' would sound like. Kind of went for a slo mo riff looping vibe. think it turned out quite well.

oh wait, i see you're bloodletters -- been digging the stuff you've posted lately! i'm not "on tumblr" that much so i need to remind myself to check your page more often.

tylerw, Saturday, 7 May 2011 19:41 (twelve years ago) link

funnily, my record got reviewed in a few places locally. my favorite line from the denver av club: "It’s not all great, but there are definitely a few gems in the rough in the mix." Bring on the faint praise! Also, I was referred to as "the professorial rocker," so .... win?

tylerw, Saturday, 7 May 2011 19:45 (twelve years ago) link

haha, nice! "the professorial rocker" is a pretty awesome compliment in my book (although maybe less so if you're under 30? would still be totally thrilled to be called that, though!)
