i saw burke and hare, which was p terrible - incredibly old-fashioned, lots of bad 'comic' performances from ppl like bill bailey and ronnie corbett, the two leads struggling v. hard to make their characters likeable cheeky chappies who are forced by circumstance to indulge in a bit of murder and grave-robbin'. written by the same guys who wrote the modern st trinians movies, so...

simon pegg looks like someone with a little house in stroud green and seth rogen looks like a trainee psychiatric nurse on probation for some act of public indecency

not necesarily!

nulty dread (nakhchivan), Thursday, 17 February 2011 11:57 (thirteen years ago) link

idk thats not really hard i hadnt seen superbad until just before o+r hit cinemas and it was the first rogen i had seen since f+g

plax (ico), Thursday, 17 February 2011 11:58 (thirteen years ago) link

as it goes i think pegg is probably an irl tool, but he was funny at one point. rogen seems chill but that could be the hollywood PR system working its evil magic.

for all the fucked-up children of this world we give you 1p3 (history mayne), Thursday, 17 February 2011 11:58 (thirteen years ago) link

ya i've def not seen anything with either of them

nulty dread (nakhchivan), Thursday, 17 February 2011 11:59 (thirteen years ago) link

the rogen ws factor is probably leaning me further in his direction than i otherwise might but pegg is dreadful and that lose friends movie seems a good encapsulation of all that is terrible and objectionable about his personality/cosmic essence

Impressed by your geographical precision.

Tom D (Tom D.), Thursday, 17 February 2011 12:05 (thirteen years ago) link

ya idk i feel crouch end is a lil more alt? but basically if u walk around suburban london u probably see millions of these ppl, possibly without the 'englishman in cannes' radiation burn look

nulty dread (nakhchivan), Thursday, 17 February 2011 12:05 (thirteen years ago) link

i mean i assume he is basically not a bad person, whereas rogen is obviously depraved

nulty dread (nakhchivan), Thursday, 17 February 2011 12:07 (thirteen years ago) link

I'm surprised anyone could get upset by Simon Pegg, seems like an inoffensive sorta bloke, but I suppose that's ILX for ya

'the cult of the aggressively inoffensive bloke' (c) history mayne iirc

Danzig, with tears in my eyes (DavidM), Thursday, 17 February 2011 12:13 (thirteen years ago) link

guessing he will be a kinda media/it person who is still somewhere between kidult and alt dad but will have moved to hertfordshire and be a libdem activist within the decade

Extreme-Accounting (or E-A) is an extreme sport in a similar vein to Extreme Ironing, in which people in accountancy-related roles take a calculator, laptop, Attaché case, PDA etc. with them into a remote location or action-sports situation and do some “book-keeping” work.

Extreme-Accounting claims to be the natural evolution of centuries of Proto-E-As – from bean counters in the earliest civilizations through the medieval codifiers of accountancy practice and a variety of latter day adventurers and pioneers. A selection of these are thoughtfully highlighted on the Extreme-Accounting website in a section describing itself as the movement’s “Dubious Past”.

that's pretty damn harsh. I never had a problem with Rogan, I just think he gets way too much license to ad-lib and I struggle to think of any movie he's really been good in, while Fuzz and Shaun are total classics that I'm sure will hold up very well

frogbs, Tuesday, 27 September 2011 19:58 (twelve years ago) link

also, Simon was involved in one of the greatest comedy sketches of all time:

No idea who Simon Pegg is but props to Seth Rogen for his Twitter beef with Ted Cruz:

If you’re a white supremacist fascist who doesn’t find it offensive when someone calls your wife ugly, Ted Cruz is the exact motherfucker for you. https://t.co/w4zdynI2V9

yeah this has been highly entertaining. Cruz is so fucking stupid.

Pegg most famously made Shaun of the Dead, pomenitul.

Rings a bell, but I'm a total philistine when it comes to this stuff.

Anyway, I'm amused by the fact that this is a showdown between a Canadian and an ex-Canadian.
