"He was the only son of a drag queen dope dealer...

Former New Bomb Turk and all around good dude Eric Davidson linked to an old video of The Fluid live on his Facebook page and it prompted me to pop in my CD copy of "Glue" with "Roadmouth" on it and it still sounds fresh to me, funky and rhythmically interesting yet some great riffs, wah-wah pedal abuse and 'tude straight from '70s Detroit, even if they were from Denver. Remember them as a quality live band the time or two I caught them as well. Pick to click: "Hooked" which just pummels you:

I even liked their much-maligned major label swansong at the time though I guess I need to pop that one on soon as well.

Like most who start these things, I vote classic.

^^ the Glue/Roadmouth EP comp was the first Sub Pop release I ever owned. Still classic.

I hope it's not my fault for starting this thread but guitarist Rick Kulwicki died yesterday at age 49:

Bummer.

rick k rip (kinda weird coincidence, no?)

Fact: In high-school I played bass for a band led by a dude who had previously been in a band w/ the bass player from The Fluid. I think some of the basslines I learned were written by him.
