Bassist Mike Mills agrees, calling Collapse Into Now, out March 8th on Warner Bros., "our best record since Out of Time," the group's 1991 hit. "We took the shackles off and wrote whatever sounded good — balls-to-the-wall rockers, slow sad songs, great mid-tempo songs in the tradition of R.E.M. We had quality, top to bottom."

Except that's Brando's version of events. In all likelihood he fell down outside a McDonalds after eating 10 double cheeseburgers.

man this brings back bad memories of the time when, cooking on somebody else's budget, I decided to make crab dip - I found a recipe that used imitation crab, decided to buy real crab instead, sort of maybe doubled the amount of crab in the process because I was confused by how to measure the crab, and ended up with a huge pile of crab lightly brushed with cheese and other spices. it was really gross

In re: Magic: the Gathering:

--

last night i found a m:tg card lying in the middle of the street. i picked it up and saw another one, then another, and followed the trail down the block until i had like twelve of them.

i showed them to my gf at home but we didn't understand how half of them are supposed to work, they're either worded really vaguely or involve mechanics like "kicking" that are new to me.

And, yeah, she does "steal" one of the melody lines from "Express Yourself," so what. If it keeps a gay boy from throwing himself off a bridge, great. I'll probably dance to it in a club. But this has got too much self-help nonsense for my taste.

what she copies is pretty substantive -- it just seems cheap, unintelligent and manipulative to do something so obvious, especially coming off the heels of alejandro. there are plenty of other ways to keep gay boys from jumping off bridges!

I mean it's just a stupid thing to write into a movie; like I swear this is all leading up to the ultimate Wes Anderson movie where the main character wears a bear hat and carries around chopsticks and starts every conversation with a line from a chorus of a song from whichever Hollies album cover art matches the shirt of the person hes talking to, with the climatic final scene being him trying to hail a cab in slow motion while The Jam plays "English Rose"; the taxi driver is Bill Murray with a lion hat, who just looks at him and shakes his head while passing him by; then he is approached by a little Mexican kid selling Chiclets and handcrafted wooden turtles; the chopsticks fall slowly to the ground...end of movie

I have a feeling that this band is going to be the next Coldplay (in terms of popularity). I don't know if I'll be able to take that; going into a random store, coffee shop, whatevs and listen to it in the background. I tolerated Coldplay; M&S make me want to destroy things. :(

― daavid, Wednesday, February 16, 2011 1:47 PM (6 minutes ago)

at least Coldplay had the good sense to use a Kraftwerk melody and kinda-sorta rip off Echo & the Bunnymen and '80s U2 at times. there is not one good thing about Mumford & Sons that i can think of
