Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 09:18 (twenty years ago) link

Wolf Eyes are a dime a dozen compared to the Lightning Bolts and Boredoms of the world.

Seeing Wolf Eyes = seeing Sonic Youth today
Seeing Boredoms = seeing Kraftwerk today

sort of

wolf eyes is quite tempting, it's 10 quid though and i have no desire to see black dice again, and i'm not convinced wolf eyes are worth 10 quid on their own.

also, i just bought the last two tickets to the lightning bolt gig on friday :-)

last night: lightning bolt might be the best live band i've ever seen. the 5 mins or so i spent down the front were easily the most intense but also most fun experience i've had at a concert - everyone jumping around like crazy, but no aggression. fantastic. anna loved them too.

black dice - better than last time i saw them. still a bit dull though. we were sat down and it all felt a bit weird.

boredoms - amazing. i kinda presume the stuff at the beginning with the microphone was just miming, but whatever, still an incredible bit of stagemanship. and it just carried on being great. more bands need 3 drummers.

so yeah, it was good. i kinda feel like i'm not praising it enough, but i don't really know how to...

surely, boredoms having been around as long as they have, seeing them today is like actually going and seeing kraftwerk today, today? or not

is Psycho Baba - "on the roof of kedar lodge" anygood?

Lil' Fancy Kpants (The K is Silent) (ex machina), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 20:19 (twenty years ago) link

Psycho Baba is only OK. Sitar heavy hippietronics, but not as engaging as OOIOO, nor as driving as AOA. Def skippabble.

sexyDancer, Tuesday, 13 April 2004 20:24 (twenty years ago) link

destroy all their psych soup stuff. including VCN. especially VCN. personally didn't think much of the scala show. they will be phish soon.

The Rovo remix of OOIOO's "Be Sure to Loop" is ILL. Is the rest of Shock City Shockers 2 as crucial?

sexyDancer, yes!

Acid! Polizei! (ex machina), Monday, 19 April 2004 22:40 (twenty years ago) link

sexydancer, i said this upthread:

the splinter band with EY3 and Y0shimi is known as either V00redoms or 7v07 depending on the amount of drums or electronics or DJ-ing is involved.

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 29 April 2004 14:17 (nineteen years ago) link

two weeks pass...
a lot of the boredoms titles are plays on english words/concepts/band-names so that's a definite possibility (i always associate that image with the rising sun). there was talk of a lot of sun-god worship around the time of the recording of SUPER AE/ARE.
