Noteworthy album covers of 2011

Why isn't that Marianne Faithfull album called Horses and High Heels and Seaside and Abundant Flowers?

Also, why does it say "Horses" when there clearly only one single horse? I mean, everything else is on the nose obvious, so that seems like a major fuck up.

I think those are rocks. But I did just notice one in the vegetation.

Is the album cover better or worse now that's been discovered to be a game of "find the horses"?

Ha, my previous post was meant to be joke, I hadn't noticed there actually are hidden horses in the pic.

Yeah, that kind of resembles yet ANOTHER horse.

Playing "find the horses" at least makes it remarkable, but I still don't know that it's very good.

I really like that cover picture. Reminds me of young adult fiction books for horse fan girls. And I love how there's a horse for each element in the pic: plant horse, water horse, air horse... Though it should have a sand horse too to make it complete. (Unless the real horse walking in the sand counts as "sand horse"?)

SOme of that artist's other work is pretty O_O, don't want to sully this thread with it though. Apparently he did some cover art for Prince too, but I can't quite figure out what.

Well, at least we now know the name of that piece is "Seven Horses," so we just have to find them all.

I've only got five, so I'm assuming that the last two were drowned.

Oh wow, I'm not sure if that's actually better or horribly worse than the picture they ended up using for ATWIAD.

Also, the actual album cover has pretty much all the same elements as Warren's version (which makes sense, since they images are based on the song titles and lyrics), but the bearded man hugging a tiger is missing. I wonder what happened with that?

any great artwork prince ever had was by accident, wasn't it?

my old roommate had the last trail of dead album & the artwork was really cool -- singer drew it by hand & it flowed all the way throughout the booklet iirc

Love the Tim Hecker sleeve, really draws me in. Someone's put up a video montagey thing for 'The Piano Drop' on the YouTube which utilises similar (same source?) imagery.

yeah I was gonna say the only ppl who use that effect = the paedo from that story and husbands uploading photos of their wives to amateur porn sites (as is my understanding)
