sara, indie dudes (self-indentified or otherwise) can post all over this thread. I'm just saying it's not the thread to post about Yo La Tengo

yeah, but who are "indie dudes"? Like, how am I supposed to know what records they endorse as classics so I can post about their mediocre taste and judgment?

s/indie dude/rock critic
― ciderpress, Sunday, 30 January 2011 19:59 (thirteen years ago) link
I don't think some of these count because general recognition != "this is a classic". Some of these are just "indie press did not cover first album, covered second or later album after popular consensus led them to that musician."
Pretty sure people were all over that first Clipse album, or at least the ilm crowd was.

oh lol on w/e IMPORTANT LIST THREAD it was that i brought up listening to/liking small run cassette releases i asked u how obscure/difficult to hear/lmtd run a release has to be before you wouldnt consider mentioning it in your own personal best of the year. & im p sure i only bragged on my 'cool' taste in music as part of that discussion...
i guess my sincere qn w/r/t to this thread wld be why (or i guess even if) u think it matters whether the nebulous 'indie crowd' cannonizes the 'wrong' clipse album given how ppl consume music now anyways

in what world is "Trapped In The Closet" R. Kelly's widely endorsed classic? and i mean...i don't prefer the '90s stuff to his '00s stuff but if anything 12 Play is the classic that "Ignition" era fans sleep on.
