I did have ILXVols 1 to 3 and the u2 one hosted, but all my site content strangely disappeared one day and I didn't notice for 3 months.

Mark G, Friday, 28 January 2011 14:47 (thirteen years ago) link

Yeah the Disco Inferno one is temporarily on hold...but this year should change that, I suspect.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 13 October 2011 21:07 (twelve years ago) link

Didn't realise we'd never finished the DI one. I suspect everyone went "oh god how can I possibly cover these songs" and gave up lol.

One of these days I'll get over my lack of confidence and DO a track.

Occupy Kelly St (Trayce), Thursday, 13 October 2011 22:31 (twelve years ago) link

I'm thinking about reviving the DI one in the new year...

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 13 October 2011 22:36 (twelve years ago) link

Cool. I still wouldnt mind doing "fallen down the wire" (well, if I can ever work out the words, ha)

I only remember this because Jordan S pointed it out way back then, but our tracks on ILX Comp Volume 2 were switched around/mislabeled (his is 5:14 long, mine is 4:25).

Michael F Gill, Tuesday, 24 January 2017 02:42 (seven years ago) link

I thought I recognised the lil' pic there.

It's funny, once in a while I put my name (or people I know) in certain websites (you know, you have as well). I wondered if someone with the same name as me had nicked in ahead and taken the "no-number" version.

For a second, I thought someone had. Then I clicked on the link, and found it was me!

Thanks! (rlly)

Mark G, Tuesday, 24 January 2017 12:41 (seven years ago) link

This is just reminding me of my sporadic IA about the fact that my discogs page is incomplete and I can't edit it. Bah. (But on the topic at hand, good work Ned.)

I never saw the cover for the ILX Next Day comp and EL - OH - EL, for reals.

nice work !
ILX has quite a back catalogue now !
I had totally forgotten some of my contributions.
Also, time flies...

I kind of wish we had a Bandcamp page for all of this, not necessarily to sell but to give a streaming location

yes and so i could delete the syro covers off of my soundcloud

i forgot that the lulu precovers comp had the added challenge that we also had to match the track times of the actual album, brilliant

I kind of wish we had a Bandcamp page for all of this, not necessarily to sell but to give a streaming location

or spotify (but I suppose they only have things that are on a label) !

i forgot that the lulu precovers comp had the added challenge that we also had to match the track times of the actual album, brilliant

yeah, I think that was the funniest to do due to that constraint (and the crazy length of most of the original tracks) !

AlXTC from Paris, Tuesday, 24 January 2017 17:21 (seven years ago) link

The Lulu project is easily my favorite of them all, not that there weren't other great ones. But that was a perfect moment and a half.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 24 January 2017 17:21 (seven years ago) link

yeah, I think that was the funniest to do due to that constraint (and the crazy length of most of the original tracks) !

haha yeah; this is why my contribution to that is effectively two separate songs welded together that is a strong ripoff in build and structure of "Insomnia" by Faithless

(The caption: “fine dining.”) (DJP), Tuesday, 24 January 2017 17:23 (seven years ago) link

I did my Bowie one to that constraint, even though I know most people didn't.

My faves are Lulu and the Sciento_Ogy one. A classic year for ilx comps.

emil.y, Tuesday, 24 January 2017 17:30 (seven years ago) link

For overall quality, I still think Vol3 "has a bucket" is a good starting place, but Lulu is .

Mark G, Tuesday, 24 January 2017 17:46 (seven years ago) link

Oh lol, I totally forgot about ENGLANDE.

emil.y, Tuesday, 24 January 2017 17:52 (seven years ago) link

There should be an (online) ILX festival with all these : ILXapalooza !

AlXTC from Paris, Wednesday, 25 January 2017 10:41 (seven years ago) link

There was one, it was linked to Vol 3.

but not the ai shit, just a playlist of our songs

majority whip, majority nae nae (m bison), Sunday, 15 March 2020 18:53 (four years ago) link

i think the idea was that we would make our own songs but our artist/song names had to be from that list

either that or pandemic-themed

idk

strangely hookworm but they manage ream shoegaze poetry (imago), Sunday, 15 March 2020 19:15 (four years ago) link

i am favouring a pandemic theme myself but you are all free to argue the toss

'bat love' would be on both themes tbf

songs of our own imo

majority whip, majority nae nae (m bison), Sunday, 15 March 2020 19:52 (four years ago) link

in whatever, but would be better were there an overarching concept to at least name the tracks

Wuhan!! Got You All in Check (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Sunday, 15 March 2020 20:06 (four years ago) link

that concept, is COVID

strangely hookworm but they manage ream shoegaze poetry (imago), Sunday, 15 March 2020 20:08 (four years ago) link

I'm in, although the COVID theme may be a little tenuous as it'll probably be instrumental.

04 Castle Down a Dirt Road
05 Bathroom Quickie
06 My Stupid Boyfriend
