I've never heard Belle & Sebastian either.

I once got kicked out of a B&S concert
I was part of an audience that inspired Stuart Murdoch and Stevie Jackson to walk off stage in a feeble indie strop. Seriously: one of the most pathetic things I have ever witnessed. I remember I tried to have a pop at the latter about it later on; trouble is, I was so drunk that I don't imagine he understood a word of it.
Anyway. If ever a band could fuck off for eternity, etc ...

What did you do?
Grimly what did the audience do?

also, i was listening to some promos yesterday evening, and who pops along later but...the artist themselves! he has hardly any listeners so obviously i showed up...he is a son of one of the kinks (whoever they are) who makes pleasant electro

Ach, it's a long story. I've posted about it elsewhere. Suffice it to say: the pair of them were asked to do a small set at a private party, and got pissy because people weren't reverential enough towards them. No fucking wonder: it wasn't a bloody gig, and the majority of the people there didn't have a clue who they were.
Of course, being such ineffectual fuckers, they managed to take the stage, play two songs, get upset and storm off without 50% of the invited guests even noticing.
I should add that I genuinely like some of their music, and I've seen the fully fledged band on two or three occasions and enjoyed them. However, their petulance and spoilt look-at-us attitude that night put me off them forever. For fuck's sake: it was someone else's party -- someone to whom they owed a couple of favours, to put it mildly -- at which they were asked to play a short set. To throw a strop after two songs because we weren't paying them enough attention struck me as wank-arsed in the extreme.
(Then again: Stet argues, to this day, that they were absolutely right and we should all have been bowing down before them, etc.)

xpost, obviously,
If they're both guys, how can they be called "Belle & Sebastian"? Is there some joke there?

You mean Stet is another of the B&S fans on here?

You don't have to know much to get hired at the Guardian these days, then.

Well: he likes them a lot more than I do, put it that way.
The more I think about this, the more I realise a lot of the reason I've no time for them/get pissed off by them is because of personal, non-musical stuff (including a couple of things I'm categorically not posting here). That's probably unreasonable of me, but hey. I'm in an unreasonable mood right now.

Your musical compatibility with Robotbuilder is Low
Music you have in common includes Celtic Frost, Mastodon, Black Sabbath, Agalloch and Led Zeppelin.

Gallhammer is a black metal/doom metal/crust punk band, formed in Tokyo, Japan in 2003. Notably, all of its members are female, which is a rare occurrence in extreme metal. The band consists of Mika Penetrator (vocals/guitar), Vivian Slaughter (bass/vocals) and Risa Reaper (drums/vocals).

I sometimes go through and delete all the crap my kids listen to (though I notice some Beyblade soundtrack songs are still there and they must have played most of the Andrew WK as there's no way I listen to him that much) but I have to accept responsibility for my own drunkenness and leave them there.

Is there a length under which tracks aren't scrobbled? Last.fm seems to have something against really short songs.
― slag move (onimo), Thursday, 4 December 2008 23:19 (fifteen years ago) link
tracks 29 seconds and under dont scrobble. Also tracks must play for 50% of their length or longer tracks for 4 mins or 50% before scrobbling.
