its on the same level as not having done any tobacco for a year or two and then having a smoke or a chew or something.

Kava kava is banned in most of Europe. Supposedly linked to liver failure

I've chewed qat/khat! It's a nice way to spend a day with friends but it fucks up your teeth and also can make sleeping difficult since you're all wired up. It's also extremely bitter so I always chewed it with some gum. And if you like nicotine it will make you want to smoke like a chimney.

Yeah I chewed it while studying swahili for a summer in Mombasa. It's kinda crazy though...some people chew that shit everyday. There are all different kinds--the most sought after was a short, stubby type. It was supposed to be the strongest, and softest to chew. I actually liked the slightly longer kind. Just make sure to strip off the leaves, and only chew the soft parts, not the hard stem.
Thing was, after I came back from Mombasa, I had this dark spot in between my front two teeth from the qat (I had chewed quite a bit, and was probably doing it wrong).

one of the things that I liked about Hawaii: the sports guy on the local news was a huge bloke in a Hawaiian shirt and his big story was a baseball umpire getting hit in the nuts
