I'm sure someone else has cited as such, but WHAT ABOUT THE STRANGLERS? WHAT ABOUT SHAM 69?

Is Crawley part of Surrey? (I'd ask the wife, but she's not up yet)
West Sussex I think
― Colonel Poo, Friday, 1 February 2008 13:30 (sixteen years ago) link
Crawley is West Sussex, the adjacent county. It's right on the border though.
― NickB, Friday, 1 February 2008 13:31 (sixteen years ago) link
Didn't it used to be in Surrey at one point?
― Stewart Osborne, Friday, 1 February 2008 14:31 (sixteen years ago) link
I'm waiting for Dorset, Middlesex and Rutland, in no particular order.
― Stewart Osborne, Friday, 1 February 2008 14:32 (sixteen years ago) link
Crawley's always been in West Sussex. The Feeling are from Horsham, which is also the location of the boarding school in the first series of Gene Simmon's Rock School.

I'm guessing Alex was thinking about the Cure. West Sussex would also be Brett Anderson, Leo Sayer and um, the Ordinary Boys.

Psst, don't let this thread be revived when Louis comes back or you'll all be in a world of trouble for not mentioning Kingston-upon-Thamesers Cardiacs.
Would start hilarious Dorset poll with options "King Crimson" and "my teenage cousins' Nickelback and RHCP covers band" but cannot be arsed, like.

Don't ferget the Peej.
― NickB, Friday, 1 February 2008 15:02 (sixteen years ago) link
Oh! I did, too. See, this is why I couldn't start the poll, I knew I'd forgotten someone obvious that I really liked and would be annoyed at myself when they were pointed out.

And what about the Lucky Bishops?
― Stewart Osborne, Friday, 1 February 2008 15:17 (sixteen years ago) link
Not to mention Bitter Little Cider Apples, Cheese, Freak Circus, Garfield's Birthday, Gothic Chicken, The Steve Wilson Band....
― Stewart Osborne, Friday, 1 February 2008 15:20 (sixteen years ago) link
Oh yes, it's aaaall 'appenin' doon 'ere in Daaaarsed!
You could have included Status Quo and Busted! Rick Parfitt and Matt Willis are both from Woking. Also, my googling hasn't been able to confirm this but I think Sheep On Drugs might also be from around that neck of the woods. I certainly remember a bazillion posters in the underpass under Woking Station when I was a yoof.
― Madchen, Friday, 1 February 2008 16:22 (sixteen years ago) link
ah yes Sheep on Drugs who had to suffer the indignity of having their name shortened to Sheep on the Chart Show.
― Grandpont Genie, Friday, 1 February 2008 16:25 (sixteen years ago) link
Merton Parkas, come on, clue's in the name and that.
― Madchen, Friday, 1 February 2008 16:26 (sixteen years ago) link
Not that they'd have won I guess.
― Madchen, Friday, 1 February 2008 16:27 (sixteen years ago) link
I thought they were from Merton Park, name being the clue and all that.
― Mark G, Friday, 1 February 2008 16:35 (sixteen years ago) link
I suppose that's in Surrey rather than London, I guess.
― Mark G, Friday, 1 February 2008 16:36 (sixteen years ago) link
Yep, the London Borough of Merton used to be part of Surrey.
― Madchen, Friday, 1 February 2008 16:51 (sixteen years ago) link
Yes, I was thinking of The Cure.
― Alex in NYC, Friday, 1 February 2008 16:56 (sixteen years ago) link
More of an ILE question than an ILM one (but its not worth starting a new thread):
Is there anything of interest near-ish Camberley?
