i'm afraid i haven't heard enough of his stuff from that period to give a qualified answer. what i do have is locked up in my parents basement 8,000km away. what i can say is that you have to be a little bit selective in that some of his stuff slots into that generic US garage style (with a kerri twist of course) - which i'm not really into. love some of the b-side dubs though.

how reliable is the king st label btw? i have dug the recent dennis ferrer releases and keep seeing records from the label at my local record exchange. i should just stop being a coward and buy some at random, but i have been bitten too many times by bad downtempo records (looking at you ian pooley)

the fingerprintz record is so great! fingerprintz 2 is also good but not as hard sounding. you should definitely check out a basement, a red light, and a feeling. it's a madhouse label comp with different vocalists over his productions. it turned me on to KC in the most major way. it's got deep and tough garage productions, jazzy walking-bassline house, and his grampa sings on one cut.

i would also check this record he did for movin' records: http://www.discogs.com/release/48561

the panic ep? that one is good.

i've only heard the first raw grooves and it's excellent, with some serious basslines.

Slept on "I Think of You" until just now, but it's stunning. Sort of like a warmer, vocal version of "Light the World."

Again I ask, do I shell out $15 to see him tonight? I am tempted to do so in very real way, but there are also other things going on that are infinitely more cheap...

the original mix of "rain" has to be one of the best house tracks ever made. i love how it sounds so languorous yet giddy and restless at the same time. and such an amazing bassline

the later vocal mix that ramps up the melancholy is worth a look as well

new album "spaces and places" out in a few months. album sampler discs are sounding good, about what you'd expect which is is tite as hell imo and i'm psyched. "tenacity" sounding like an early favorite.

yeah just listened again, assuming this will go down as one of the top five mixes of the “boiler room video mix era”, especially now that we’ve entered the degraded era of people bicycling around town while dj’ing dnb using a digital rig on their handlebars

aside from the mindboggling technical skill and amazing sound quality it’s just an great set of tunes. would be equally enjoyable if he had done it digitally, vinyl, whatever. probably my favorite mix of his now outside of “trionosphere live”

FB memories served up this status update I posted a dozen years ago:

In my dream, I wrote a term paper explaining how Kerri Chandler's "Rain" is really "Giant Steps" in robot disguise.

Guess my dreams are lucid after all
