do one of the props instead of the game, there's more money that way.

To me, both of these games are pick-em at best. I don't see any club having a big advantage on the other one, which is kind of true to how the season really went down.

earlnash, Wednesday, 19 January 2011 01:36 (thirteen years ago) link

florio is one of those guys who can never ever admit he's wrong, it's like the daily kos of football

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 19 January 2011 02:38 (thirteen years ago) link

I don't know what will come out of his dick, but I assure you he'll be inserting it into pure evil

five deadly venoms (San Te), Wednesday, 19 January 2011 02:42 (thirteen years ago) link

AFC: Giant fucking sinkhole open and swallow both teams. I hate them both so damn much.

poor b.l.a.m. tho considering yr rooting interests i guess i should be happy you haven't gone into j-e-t-s mode

mookieproof, Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:08 (thirteen years ago) link

I like the Steelers as a franchise, and as a team, I'm just wanting someone new this year.

five deadly venoms (San Te), Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:08 (thirteen years ago) link

who is your team?

mookieproof, Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:13 (thirteen years ago) link

Yeah, who do you root for San Te? I was just wondering that today

VegemiteGrrrl, Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:14 (thirteen years ago) link

I'm a Miami Dolphins fan

five deadly venoms (San Te), Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:19 (thirteen years ago) link

so I often live vicariously through other teams in the playoffs, at least in the post-Marino era

five deadly venoms (San Te), Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:19 (thirteen years ago) link

my comment above, weirdly worded as it was, was just saying I'd prefer not to see the Steelers win again

five deadly venoms (San Te), Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:20 (thirteen years ago) link

I totally love their defense though.

five deadly venoms (San Te), Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:20 (thirteen years ago) link

you should probably support dan marino's hometown imo

mookieproof, Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:21 (thirteen years ago) link

On the campaign trail, huh mookie? :)

VegemiteGrrrl, Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:23 (thirteen years ago) link

steelers are a cool team imo. no problem if they win it.

same with the packers.

Daniel, Esq., Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:24 (thirteen years ago) link

i don't live and die with the steelers the way i do with the penguins, but yeah i do think they are largely a force for good in pittsburgh and the league. which is one of the reasons the ben thing bothers me a lot.

mookieproof, Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:26 (thirteen years ago) link

we can't hatcat "jets" it would have everybody on ILX up in arms everytime they talked about jets

thank you based jättegod (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:26 (thirteen years ago) link

i can't even understand hating the packers (well, unless you're a vikings or bears fan) -- how can you not love a collectively owned team from a town of 101,025 people

mookieproof, Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:28 (thirteen years ago) link

it might not matter much, but you should maybe hatcat j-e-t-s then

mookieproof, Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:28 (thirteen years ago) link

yeah, steelers and packers are cool pillars of the league. awesome super-bowl matchup imo. two cool helmets/uniforms, too.

Daniel, Esq., Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:30 (thirteen years ago) link

Mike Tomlin is great, I think if I was starting a club and had to pick a coach, he might be the dude. That said, as a little kid in the 70s, I was more in the Staubach Cowboys fan (my dad was in the Navy in the early 60s and he loved Roger the Dodger, as they got time off to listen to them on the radio back in the day) and I thought the Houston Oilers got ripped off by the Steelers by shite calls then in the 80s I followed the Bengals, so I have NEVER liked the Steelers. Add that in with a few of the high profile creeps on their roster, I just don't like them. The Jets are loud and obnoxious, but the they haven't won it forver and I don't think they are building a dynasty, so they don't freak me out. I thought Rex Ryan was a guy I would have picked as a coach a couple of years ago.

I'd also rather the Bears meet the Jets in the Superbowl, if it its going down.

earlnash, Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:30 (thirteen years ago) link

i'd rather have my right eye gouged out with a rusty nail than have the jets in the superbowl, but there you are.

Daniel, Esq., Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:32 (thirteen years ago) link

mookie otm about the hating the Packers. One of the few forces of good left in the league.

Actually mookie I was watching the 24/7 on the Pens/Caps and now I really really want to go to Piittsburgh one day for a game. City is really cool looking, the rivers and shit, seems like my kinda place.

VegemiteGrrrl, Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:32 (thirteen years ago) link

Do they let Raider fans visit?

VegemiteGrrrl, Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:33 (thirteen years ago) link

Teams That Should Never Win A(nother) Super Bowl:

Jets
Patriots
Bills
Redskins
Vikings
Bucs
Jags
Raiders (while Al Davis is alive)

five deadly venoms (San Te), Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:34 (thirteen years ago) link

yeah it's a good town -- and cheap! i'd live there if i hadn't grown up there, if you know what i mean.

pittsburgh has been blessed by having the rooneys and mario lemieux. if only the pirates had an owner half as good . . .

mookieproof, Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:36 (thirteen years ago) link

Pittsburgh did it the right way, sticking with a coach for 14+ years...I was real happy when Cowher got his.

five deadly venoms (San Te), Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:36 (thirteen years ago) link

jags? nah. they'd be okay.

teams i'd like to see win multiple super bowls:

  • dolphins (obv)
  • cardinals
  • chiefs
  • browns
  • titans

Daniel, Esq., Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:38 (thirteen years ago) link

I like this Bucs team and I want them to win. xps

Dr. (Johnny Fever), Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:38 (thirteen years ago) link

the only teams on that list for me would be: redskins, jets, eagles

mookieproof, Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:39 (thirteen years ago) link

btw the steelers have had three head coaches in my lifetime. and i am 39 years old

mookieproof, Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:39 (thirteen years ago) link

Teams That Should Never Win A(nother) Super Bowl:

1. 49ers
2. Cowboys (until the Jones family doesn't own the club)
3. Pats

I have enjoyed watching a decade of crap in SF. I hate those bastards only with the knowledge that eventually someone will have them being good again.

Raiders were a fun team when I was a kid and were on TV a ton in the early 80s. Jim Plunkett is one of my all time favorites.

earlnash, Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:40 (thirteen years ago) link

I def want to see the Browns win one. actually I would like to rescind the Vikings, it's more or less due to the last two years with Favre, but really I feel bad that they haven't won one yet.

five deadly venoms (San Te), Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:41 (thirteen years ago) link

I miss the 49ers being an elite team.

five deadly venoms (San Te), Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:41 (thirteen years ago) link

The Vikings, like the Jets and the Redskins, have always seemed an abhorrent franchise to me. I have no basis for these feelings, but I'd be fine with them never winning shit.

Dr. (Johnny Fever), Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:43 (thirteen years ago) link

They are division rivals of the Bears, but I would be OK with both the Vikings and Lions finally getting over the hump and winning it all.

I'd like Mike Brown to be haunted by the ghost of Paul Brown and shamed into building a real team in Cincy. That's such a sad situation, as Bengals fans have put up with so much crap and when they are winning, it's great fun.

Ohio has had a lot of shite teams over the past couple of decades, whether you are a in the Cleveland or Cincy axis. They hate each other but they both suffer through the Buckeyes letting them down.

earlnash, Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:44 (thirteen years ago) link

i'm still startled by the anti-cleveland mode in pittsburgh. yeah, they're a close rival (and narcissism of small differences, perhaps) but the browns have basically never been as good as the steelers. why hate on them so? they've got great unis and a pedigree.

fuc the ravens and bengals, but go browns -- especially with mangenius gone

mookieproof, Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:44 (thirteen years ago) link

I want one Raider SB in my lifetime bc I wasn't a fan when they won the other ones, lol (yes it's all about MEEE)

Don't want a Niner SB bc my coworkers would drive me batshit and Sacramento is wall to wall closet Niners just waiting to repaint their trucks red and gold

I'm okay with anyone else winning though. Winning that thing is a cool, often emotional experience for fans and the team, even if it's back to back... would feel weird openly depriving someone of that.

VegemiteGrrrl, Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:46 (thirteen years ago) link

Yeah and who the fuck doesn't want the Browns to get a leg up.

VegemiteGrrrl, Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:47 (thirteen years ago) link

Well the Browns beat the tar out of them for 20 years and were dominating like the Steelers were in the 70s in their time. The Steelers were the doormats of the old NFL, they were pretty much always terrible from the birth of the game till the 70s.

earlnash, Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:47 (thirteen years ago) link

(I don't think they talk about that, earl)

VegemiteGrrrl, Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:48 (thirteen years ago) link

the unfair thing is that due to the NFL transferring the old Browns history to the new Browns, the hatred came with it.

five deadly venoms (San Te), Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:48 (thirteen years ago) link

It's still just weird and hard to believe that the Browns moved. If any club had local support, it was always Cleveland. Modell's were broke though from biz problems outside of football.

earlnash, Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:51 (thirteen years ago) link

actually that kind of adds to my hatred of the ravens

i mean, it's not baltimore's fault that the colts split, but i kind of blame them for stealing the browns

mookieproof, Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:51 (thirteen years ago) link

I still find the overnight Colt move to be one of the more amazing sports stories.

metal panda (San Te), Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:52 (thirteen years ago) link

That was a pretty screwed up time.

VegemiteGrrrl, Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:53 (thirteen years ago) link

not 'amazing' in a good way but 'amazing' that something that fucked up happened

metal panda (San Te), Wednesday, 19 January 2011 03:53 (thirteen years ago) link

yeah the steelers were a nightmare pre-1970 or so, but happily i was not alive then. i recently shocked someone by mentioning that during ww2 the steelers and eagles combined into the "steagles"
