I don't get the economic logic of how every retiring nfl player somehow ends up becoming a tv personality, aren't we gonna have a bubble soon?

The CBS pregame show is so brutal.

ABC News reports that two women are suing Brett Favre for sexual harassment after he made lewd passes at them while they were massage therapists for the Jets.

Christina Scavo and Shannon O'Toole filed suit in the Supreme Court of the state of New York on Monday. The suits allege that Favre text messaged another woman to "get together" with Scavo for Favre's pleasure. Scavo also alleges that Favre treated her like "a hanging slab of meat," asking for "a three-way" with the two women. Scavo's husband reportedly called Favre demanding an apology. Scavo and O'Toole say they were never offered work by the Jets again. Jan. 3 - 5:55 pm et

dude, given the lockout it's a given that SOMEONE or SEVERAL someones are gonna try to get him back in; he's as ready to go mentally and re: playbook as any new qb to a team would be and he can still chuck the ball (though often to the opposing team)
the only question is if he's really had enough.

I think this last time he actually filed retirement papers, for what that's worth.

man, that article is terrible

kinda hoping that Favre does come back. i don't hate him anymore. i remember the books that came out after his 'retirement' after the '07 season and just thinking how incredibly storied this guy's career was, and that now, here we are in a world where Favre has now "un-retired" three additional times, played for two more teams, nearly went on a Super Bowl run, and then got destroyed. Favre to the Eagles makes too much sense. Please let it be true.

frogbs, Friday, 29 July 2011 19:31 (twelve years ago) link

I figure Fox, CBS, ESPN and NBC are probably loading up the armored cars to try and be the one to sign Favre to be a football talking head.

If you put Favre next to Terry Bradshaw on a counter talking football the "aw shucks" meter would be running in the red.

“I won't lie to you,” Favre said, “but there has been times once that season started — numerous times — that I thought I shouldn't have played, this was a mistake. But then after the season was over, and maybe even before — I think the last couple of games which I didn't play in and it'd been years since I hadn't played and watched from the sidelines, better yet in street clothes, that was the first time I'd ever done that — but it gave me a chance to really reflect and look around. There was no pressure to perform. I was just kind of watching.

“So I had a chance to really think and think in depth.

except for the INTs

what do you mean forks? Cutler is probably the best comp to Favre in the NFL today

frogbs, Friday, 28 September 2012 14:54 (eleven years ago) link

in every way except he's not that good i guess
but yeah

honestly my first version of that post was that cutler IS the new favre but i second thought

EVERYONE COOKING SCMABLED EGGS,CHEESE WITH TOASTER!! (forksclovetofu), Friday, 28 September 2012 14:58 (eleven years ago) link

To put things into context look at last year. Rodgers sits a game and Flynn throws 6 TDs (a guy who apparently couldn't even beat out Russell Wilson for a starting job). Cutler gets knocked out and the Bears struggle to put up double digits. No QB's going to succeed when you only get 2 second to throw the ball and your only decent reciever is an aging Brandon Marshall.

frogbs, Friday, 28 September 2012 15:05 (eleven years ago) link

yeah, i'm not calling a referendum on Cutler as a qb there, I'm just saying that in the system he's in right now, he sucks.

Johnny Unitas and Joe Montana would be terrible with the Bears O-line.I'm optimistic it will get better with Forte coming back, and the precedent of the last two years where they protected better as the year went on.
