The stag thing was interesting for me, as I've recently been wondering about there significance on a symbolic or otherwise strange level. I think it has something to do with an enhanced presence that can be found unbearable if not beautiful...

I was pulling from a larger personal mythology for a lot of the images. The stag like figure was combination of certain specific symbols, the 'pagan' or 'cultish' iconography that hass come in to the pop consensus lately, and I had been reading up on dreams and nightmares, a common nightmare that children have is being attacked or dominated by threatening animals. Since the characters have 'thrived' mostly in a urban environment, I though a fear of nature (a.k.a the unknown) might be an innate aspect of their respect psyches
