why couldn't half of these ppl put their band/s name or the album title on their album

There's four Olde English albums on that list and they are all straight dogshit.

autre ne veut is the only one i have time for, really, & its still not as a good as 'last american hero' or 'dagger paths'. i mean i like the aesthetic that list is pushing forwards more than most ppl on ilm but its just so lazy & insular (lol) \

i have come around on the mark mcguire record though, & think its really fine

also kinda disappointed that no1 seems to feel the really tremendous outer limits recordings lp on not not fun. sun araw is p w/e

i mean, the laziness is what bothers me the most about it. Of the Altered Zones aesthetic, I mainly enjoy with the Majuere/Zombi axis side of things, love Zola Jesus, like Nite Jewel, Emeralds too

Mark McGuire album is awesome and 'brothers' is a song for the ages.

i like that autre ne veut disc a lot. not sure why you'd think that it lacks passion and effort. the vocals are a little detached, i suppose, but i'm guessing that's more about the guy compensating for his limitations as a singer?

McGuire was my dozing off album for ages, and it wasn't until one night recently when I wasn't sleeping too well cos of sickness that I heard 'Brothers' for the first time and I basically sat bolt upright and punched the fucking air and my heart was glad and then i threw up in a bin.

it's like a bearable version of SALEM

this mcguire album is actually quite good. there will probably be some kind of karmic retribution against me for saying this but it almost has a hejira/mingus joni type ambience. a chillwave explosions in the sky is probably a better analogy but it's been a really good cold winter afternoon listen.

Something about the drifting dreamy mood of it reminded me a lot of Popol Vuh.

Plus, that Rangers album is Salem/Antwoord for The Wire set

No idea what that means, but I've been enjoying the Rangers album. How many lists did it appear on? One or two at most?

i listened to the rangers album and was distinctly unimpressed, and i'm usually predisposed to digging that sort of thing

i find die antwoord tolerable because 1. their 'irony' is actually supposed to be funny+entertaining rather than just a lazy curtain to hide behind and 2. they are pretty catchy and fun

I only know of two, the new one in question here and a reissue that was a compilation of some older stuff (and really great, fwiw).

The one on Mego called 'Living With Yourself'. Haven't actually heard any of the others. xp

i have no problem with an all white guitar rock list if its awesome. and doesn't count out black guitar rock (if there is any that is worth hearing). and it doesn't put the suburbs and my lame homo fishstick fantasy at #1 and #2

i am mostly interested, as and when i make my list, as to whether anyone discovers new stuff they love through it, rather than nitpicking over what's at #8 vs #9, which is broadly interchangeable anyway.
