also wtf at the wayne/nicki song that he1geson aptly described as an mxpx b-side

some dude, Tuesday, 21 December 2010 18:03 (thirteen years ago) link

I know how the snowball effect works, but I have to say it was brave Lewis & Clark shit for the first rock critic who ever played a song by something called "Ramadanman"

the red-headed smanger (Whiney G. Weingarten), Tuesday, 21 December 2010 18:08 (thirteen years ago) link

"Hmmm, this sounds fucking terrible, I wonder what it is"

"Alessandro Bosetti – Zwölfzungen (Sedimental)"

yeah, you go, moka!

i honestly thought i would be the only person putting this on a list. its nice to be proven wrong.

I'm always curious about Ferraro's albums, but have yet to find one that really stands out for me

lol

dont really get the bj parade put on for olde english spelling bee this year & that rangers album sux

forGet (Lamp), Tuesday, 21 December 2010 19:05 (thirteen years ago) link

why couldn't half of these ppl put their band/s name or the album title on their album

Tina Tina Cheneuse (DJP), Tuesday, 21 December 2010 19:06 (thirteen years ago) link

There's four Olde English albums on that list and they are all straight dogshit.

the red-headed smanger (Whiney G. Weingarten), Tuesday, 21 December 2010 19:11 (thirteen years ago) link

autre ne veut is the only one i have time for, really, & its still not as a good as 'last american hero' or 'dagger paths'. i mean i like the aesthetic that list is pushing forwards more than most ppl on ilm but its just so lazy & insular (lol) \

i have come around on the mark mcguire record though, & think its really fine

forGet (Lamp), Tuesday, 21 December 2010 19:16 (thirteen years ago) link

also kinda disappointed that no1 seems to feel the really tremendous outer limits recordings lp on not not fun. sun araw is p w/e

forGet (Lamp), Tuesday, 21 December 2010 19:17 (thirteen years ago) link

i mean, the laziness is what bothers me the most about it. Like, I love woozy synths and nostalgic keychanges as much as the next guy, but like put some fucking effort abd passion into it, you clowns. I know you're all of the "Nickelodeon Guts" generation and mom raised you all to be special little snowflakes but fuck

Of the Altered Zones aesthetic, I mainly enjoy with the Majuere/Zombi axis side of things, love Zola Jesus, like Nite Jewel, Emeralds too

mmmm... yung hummus (Whiney G. Weingarten), Tuesday, 21 December 2010 19:19 (thirteen years ago) link

Mark McGuire album is awesome and 'brothers' is a song for the ages.

O Permaban (NickB), Tuesday, 21 December 2010 19:20 (thirteen years ago) link

The 20jfg list is up and I would link to it if I could operate this dumb ass web gadget.

O Permaban (NickB), Tuesday, 21 December 2010 19:21 (thirteen years ago) link

It's basically more of that sort of thing btw

O Permaban (NickB), Tuesday, 21 December 2010 19:21 (thirteen years ago) link

I can't get into the Mark McGuire.

Although I am relived his name is actually his name and not WHOA RECONTEXTUALIZING ish like "Hype Williams" or "Phillip Seymour Hoffman" or "Dale Earnhart Jr Jr"

mmmm... yung hummus (Whiney G. Weingarten), Tuesday, 21 December 2010 19:23 (thirteen years ago) link

i like that autre ne veut disc a lot. not sure why you'd think that it lacks passion and effort. the vocals are a little detached, i suppose, but i'm guessing that's more about the guy compensating for his limitations as a singer?

Daniel, Esq., Tuesday, 21 December 2010 19:26 (thirteen years ago) link

ah, i think i read someone going on-and-on about how good a singer that guy is. show's how little i know, i guess.

Daniel, Esq., Tuesday, 21 December 2010 19:27 (thirteen years ago) link

McGuire was my dozing off album for ages, and it wasn't until one night recently when I wasn't sleeping too well cos of sickness that I heard 'Brothers' for the first time and I basically sat bolt upright and punched the fucking air and my heart was glad and then i threw up in a bin.

O Permaban (NickB), Tuesday, 21 December 2010 19:29 (thirteen years ago) link

Die Antwoord, "Jou Ma Se Poes In 'n Fishpaste Jar"

cmon guys this is a cool song

Ned Rag & the Evil Olive Gardens (Drugs A. Money), Tuesday, 21 December 2010 20:02 (thirteen years ago) link

didn't they sing the taco-bell song? maybe that was das racist?

wtfk.

Daniel, Esq., Tuesday, 21 December 2010 20:03 (thirteen years ago) link

That was Das Rascist.

Indolence Mission (DJP), Tuesday, 21 December 2010 20:07 (thirteen years ago) link

i don't get that band at all.

Daniel, Esq., Tuesday, 21 December 2010 20:08 (thirteen years ago) link

wtf, I'm enjoying a Die Antwoord song

delete everything

Indolence Mission (DJP), Tuesday, 21 December 2010 20:09 (thirteen years ago) link

like seriously, I have no idea how this happened and I feel like I've been compromised by aliens

Indolence Mission (DJP), Tuesday, 21 December 2010 20:18 (thirteen years ago) link

Shakey Moe Szyslak (Algerian Goalkeeper), Tuesday, 21 December 2010 20:18 (thirteen years ago) link

just wait til they play a juggalo gathering and you need to go

Shakey Moe Szyslak (Algerian Goalkeeper), Tuesday, 21 December 2010 20:18 (thirteen years ago) link

it's like a bearable version of SALEM

Indolence Mission (DJP), Tuesday, 21 December 2010 20:19 (thirteen years ago) link

this mcguire album is actually quite good. there will probably be some kind of karmic retribution against me for saying this but it almost has a hejira/mingus joni type ambience. a chillwave explosions in the sky is probably a better analogy but it's been a really good cold winter afternoon listen.

skip, Tuesday, 21 December 2010 21:12 (thirteen years ago) link

Something about the drifting dreamy mood of it reminded me a lot of Popol Vuh.

O Permaban (NickB), Tuesday, 21 December 2010 21:31 (thirteen years ago) link

Plus, that Rangers album is Salem/Antwoord for The Wire set

No idea what that means, but I've been enjoying the Rangers album. How many lists did it appear on? One or two at most?

Position Position, Tuesday, 21 December 2010 21:37 (thirteen years ago) link

i listened to the rangers album and was distinctly unimpressed, and i'm usually predisposed to digging that sort of thing

elizabeth pisstake club (electricsound), Tuesday, 21 December 2010 21:54 (thirteen years ago) link

i find die antwoord tolerable because 1. their 'irony' is actually supposed to be funny+entertaining rather than just a lazy curtain to hide behind and 2. they are pretty catchy and fun

which fucking mcguire album am i supposed to listen to? dude came out with like three this year? thinking thats not a good sign...

karl...arlk...rlka...lkar..., Tuesday, 21 December 2010 22:03 (thirteen years ago) link

I only know of two, the new one in question here and a reissue that was a compilation of some older stuff (and really great, fwiw).

one pretty obvious guy in the obvious (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Tuesday, 21 December 2010 22:08 (thirteen years ago) link

The one on Mego called 'Living With Yourself'. Haven't actually heard any of the others. xp

O Permaban (NickB), Tuesday, 21 December 2010 22:09 (thirteen years ago) link

it took me til just now to figure out that oOoOO is a completely different band from OOIOO

some dude, Tuesday, 21 December 2010 22:27 (thirteen years ago) link
