"I Feel Love" is the only track I've definitely played for over an hour. But I've had occasion to play "Season of the Witch" and "Seven and Seven Is" roughly a dozen times running.

If it cannot be notated, then there is no nute. (Myonga Vön Bontee), Monday, 20 December 2010 14:58 (thirteen years ago) link

I have xps, but only a loop of pts I and II. Don't care for the rest as much.

I do this all the time though. 'Baby It's Cold Outside' got it last night. I'm surprised everyone doesn't do it - nothing better than taking time to delight in something new or just brilliant.

Steinski - "Number Three on Flight Eleven"

What satisfaction does one get from listening to a single track over and over? Seems like plenty of examples above - but i don't get it. Only a couple of times have I pressed the "repeat" button, but even then, could only tolerate a half-dozen replays at most. These are the only tracks I can ever recall playing reiteratively - although that Aphex Twin track up top sure is tempting.

Jeff Beck - Cause We've Ended as Lovers
J. Mascis - I'm Going Home
Will Oldham - I Called You Back

I've played "Stone in Focus" for several hours on end — but I'm not sure if it counts as I was sleeping for most of them :D

I'm now remembering several occasions where I have played a single album over and over. Could have been something in the ambient vein like the Aphex track, but was likely something from Brian Eno's "incidental" works. By playing them for many hours I guess I was trying to approximate their artistic intent. Will I ever live in a future that actually sounds like the future?

...and when did Aphex get around to putting names to those "Selected Ambient Works"? I always thought they were codified by those funky symbols.

suspecterrain, Tuesday, 21 December 2010 12:28 (thirteen years ago) link

the names are unofficial, made up by fans for the sake of discussion.

Surprised myself with a couple that I have actually done this with.

"Juicy Juicy Juice" by Royal Trux
"That Day Is Today" by the Rock*A*Teens

Realized recently that I could live with "Cars" by Gary Numan on eternal loop if I had to.

Oh, and R Baez, thanks for repping the Unwound so much, as I have gone on an Unwound listening spree that has completely elevated my day! Especially "All Souls Day", which I had to listen to twice.

I'm imagining this in my head as a mashup that starts with Aqua but takes a scary turn into Corgan's "wanna go for a riiiiiiiiide" from "Zero".
