I think rdj and ruffalo sorta look alike in that they'd look nothing like one another stood side by side but yet somehow they remind me of one another sorta way

Rob Lowe looks nothing like them but is very handsome albeit a little creepy somehow. Rob Lowe circa St. Elmo's Fire = impossibly dreamy.

like when i was teenager and first heard the Sex Pistols' song "Problem" at the end, I thought Johnny was actually singing "Rob Lowe, Rob Lowe, Rob Lowe ..."

sarahel, Tuesday, 14 December 2010 21:11 (thirteen years ago) link

right? they share a vibe imo

xxp

1-888-ruffalo kills me.

horseshoe has excellent taste in dreamboats.

yeah they totally share a vibe

˙❤‿❤˙˙❤‿❤˙ (ENBB), Tuesday, 14 December 2010 21:13 (thirteen years ago) link

really? i think RDj and Rob Lowe share a vibe -- they both have that kinda creepy, sleazy quality, but Ruffalo seems more down-to-earth

sarahel, Tuesday, 14 December 2010 21:14 (thirteen years ago) link

rob lowe is too pretty, though

horseshoe, Tuesday, 14 December 2010 21:15 (thirteen years ago) link

yep was going to say exactly that

I appreciate the prettiness though but it removes him from the RDJ/Ruffalo group

˙❤‿❤˙˙❤‿❤˙ (ENBB), Tuesday, 14 December 2010 21:16 (thirteen years ago) link

he's not too pretty for me!

sarahel, Tuesday, 14 December 2010 21:16 (thirteen years ago) link

and Jake G. is like what my friend Jen calls "gimpy" -- dorky, socially awkward guys that are really cute but have no clue that they are.

sarahel, Tuesday, 14 December 2010 21:17 (thirteen years ago) link

I like my not-pretty men to go craggy and mean-looking with age, but Mark Ruffalo has gone sort of...bloaty? harmless-looking? Also, all those beard experiments are...eeurgh.

i love you Laurel but so much rong

horseshoe, Tuesday, 14 December 2010 21:20 (thirteen years ago) link

what about Christian Bale's beard experiments?

sarahel, Tuesday, 14 December 2010 21:21 (thirteen years ago) link

christian bale has to stop losing weight for movies it is terrifying

horseshoe, Tuesday, 14 December 2010 21:21 (thirteen years ago) link

i also watched the first Bale batman movie again, and there's one part where he has really good hair. i think it's when he goes to the trial of the guy that killed his parents.

sarahel, Tuesday, 14 December 2010 21:22 (thirteen years ago) link

MR was in Inception, which I just watched last week, and I was, like, "Who's the bloated guy who isn't at all good looking compared to the rest of the (predictably a certain kind of 'dashing') cast?"

Jesus Christ, the apple tree! (Laurel), Tuesday, 14 December 2010 21:23 (thirteen years ago) link

Leo DeCaprio has gotten kinda bloaty too

This. I think he's one of the most amazing looking ppl ever but he's going to wreck himself if he keeps doing that and wind up looking like Ethan Hawke (RIP) or something.

˙❤‿❤˙˙❤‿❤˙ (ENBB), Tuesday, 14 December 2010 21:26 (thirteen years ago) link

Re Leo - I think that's just how he aged, like Alec Baldwin. He's about to play famous Chicago serial killer H. H. Holmes, and probably wear a cravat while doing it, so I'm withholding final judgment until I see that movie.

sarahel, Tuesday, 14 December 2010 21:27 (thirteen years ago) link

xp re LdC: I know, but it doesn't sit the same way on him. For one thing, he looks like Evil Santa packed the extra presents in the bags under his eyes.

i love ruffalo's voice.

estela, Tuesday, 14 December 2010 21:28 (thirteen years ago) link

you know who has an amazing voice? Ryan Phillipe. His voice turned him from a dude who looks weirdly like Justin Timberlake into top 5 dreamboat material for me.

˙❤‿❤˙˙❤‿❤˙ (ENBB), Tuesday, 14 December 2010 21:29 (thirteen years ago) link

xp - oh totally - Leo used to be a pretty boy, but he got bloaty so it's worse than Ruffalo who just looks like a normal guy getting older.

sarahel, Tuesday, 14 December 2010 21:30 (thirteen years ago) link

I respect it when pretty actors let themselves bloat up when they get older instead of fighting it with food/exercise-related insanity and plastic surgery. Stars! They're just like us!!!

oh sure, i'm just saying at this point ruffalo is better looking than Leo

Yeah, that's true.

what happened to ethan hawke?

sarahel, Tuesday, 14 December 2010 21:52 (thirteen years ago) link

I don't know what happened to Ethan Hawke and I'm not trying to change the subject (well I am but bc I'm burning with curiosity on this new thing, and not because I don't care about Ethan Hawke, because I do care) but what is the body shape/pants fit issue that causes some women's pants to wedge permanently in their butt cracks? Don't they notice? Doesn't this make them unhappy? Why does this happen and how can I avoid it?

phantoms from a world gone by speak again the immortal tale: (Jenny), Tuesday, 14 December 2010 22:42 (thirteen years ago) link

I don't know Jenny but those are some damn good questions imo.

Nothing happened to Ethan. I just meant that his hotness (and goddamn he was good looking once in a far away land) seemed to die a long time ago largely, I think, due to excessive skinniness.

i have enjoyed the extremely kind eyes of this guy, ben chaplin

if i had to choose an actor to be stranded on an island with, it would probably be viggo mortensen.

Jenny: I think it happens if you have more butt than your pants do or you have some combination of "more butt" and "longer rise"?

Think of it like this: the part of the jeans that your cheeks fill out is just fabric on an angle, and it stretches around the body underneath. But the seam that runs through the crotch is stabilized and reinforced and it DOESN'T stretch. It is as generous inside, fit-wise, as it's going to get.

If you have kind of a flat ass, this will probably never happen to you?

Jesus Christ, the apple tree! (Laurel), Tuesday, 14 December 2010 23:06 (thirteen years ago) link

Oh ben chaplin is v cute. He is the main reason I've seen The Truth About Cat and Dogs errr several times.

Mark Ruffalo has the dreamiest voice ever.

I went on a date with a dude from Okcupid who was kind of a dork and not exceptionally hot but he had a MR voice and that kinda made me have a crush.

oh horseshoe, whenever Mark Ruffalo is in my local paper about his opposition to fracking, I think of you.

Heard "women's interest programming" on morning edition today -- farcical piece about how the phosphates have been removed from dishwasher detergent without any notice to the public, and how this shocking environmentally-motivated move has affected the women who depend on this detergent. They were more or less outraged and "pulling their hair out" over this. I hope this was supposed to be a little bit funny? Lite news that doesn't hurt anyone?

On the other hand, women with large families in the US have grown accustomed to relying on these machines (all the way back to clothes washing machines) in order to have jobs, to take care of home and still have time to stay pretty...i mean, maybe saying that it's funny is kind of not deep enough.
