Wow, I guess I'm just conflict averse. The last thing I would want to do with a big bully in a public place is get into a confrontation. It's not like you're going to convince him of his bad ways. In my mind, there is no way to change people or even "society." I would like to live in a world with less conflict, so I try my best to avoid promoting conflict. I would prefer running away than spitting in someone's face, but I guess that's a personal decision.

To clarify, I fundamentally believe that violence is totally unacceptable, but I can't make someone less violent by attacking them.
