haw, no i haven't. and apparently it's where the ROCK '70s/'80s went to die--sure seems to be gettin' mighty ripe around about there, too.

lol the one album in there I have been loudly stanning for since late summer ('Steeple' by Wolf People) they get the band and title backwards :(

Honestly willing to believe that Classic Rock list is better than most of the lists we've seen on this thread.

One of my favorite's of the year is on that Classic Rock list. In fact, the album I'm voting #1 in the metal poll is on it.

i like that the classic rock list doesnt feel the need to incorporate albums outside its milieu just because theyre critically acclaimed. no kanye, no arcade fire, no bullshit

lol that Hold Steady fits perfectly in that list. Wonder why the Walkmen and the National arent jockeying for posish too

I've written for Classic Rock for about seven years (I'm mainly their go to guy for "mad stuff" like The Fall) and if I voted for albums outside its milieu (say Fabric55 by Shackleton for the LOLs) they would probably consider it a sacking offence. Quite right too.

Xhuxk OTM about the Heart album!!!!! It soundtracked my 1,000 trips to the storage unit during our move this summer, and the 999 trips back.

If viacom hadn't removed all The State's MTV skits from youtube, the "Slash" sketch would have been a nice video right about here.

oh, well to be fair he did say that diggy simmons sounded better on the beat

i like the ramadanman track but so far nothing else i haven't heard already that sounds interesting to me

it's weird tho -- i liked the beat at first, though now i find it pretty repulsive, but in any event it doesn't strike me as the type of beat like "miss me" or something where you can just totally vibe to the thing while ignoring the rapping -- it seems more, purposefully, like a backdrop beat that's really meant to emphasize the lyrics

"over" beat is dope in a heatmade in '04 kinda way but that just makes me wish i could hear some roc dudes in their prime spit gully shit on it

also i thought his point about t-pain was bizarre & didn't really make sense in the context of what he said about drake? like, i guess the idea of rap/r&b being "slash & burn" or w/e was sorta right, but it seems off to me to say that drake has avoided the fate of being cast off due to self-parody because he put out a "cogent" debut album by using the example of t-pain, who was actually a really coherent album artist

also i fail to see the connection b/w putting out a "cogent" album & not randomly losing favor w/in the industry & public

the alicia joint is def very good -- would actually like to see drake put more time into writing r&b for other artists

yeah otm. also t-pain was never really taken as a rapper like drake usually is, just as a dude who raps sometimes like lil jon or pharrell or something xp

yeah, the example of lil wayne wouldn't fit for brandon's thesis because wayne hasn't fallen off, but he's clearly the direct lineage for drake's sing/rap thing, and more importantly, being ubiquitous all over other ppl's singles in both fashions

as for singles, t-pain raps on "kiss kiss" & "shawty get loose" but most of his rapping was on like random remixes that only nerds heard

i guess there are a few others that he raps on ("go girl" etc) but i think he's still classified more like ne-yo, the-dream or akon than wayne or kanye

They did this last year but Vice's albums of the year chart is usually as funny as their tips of the year spoof.

Would be funnier if it were more accurate I think. Also they've actually reused, almost word for word, some of the jokes from last year.
