TMI Gays, I have some questions! Where do you stand on casual hook-ups where one or other of you are already partnered?

My rules: I always explain my partnered and open relationship/full disclosure status beforehand. The reasons are:

1) To manage their expectations, so that they don't run away with the idea that we could be boyfriends.
2) To reassure them that they won't risk getting into trouble with a deceived and angry partner.
3) To give them a chance to back out, if they aren't into hooking up with married men.

NB - regarding 3), almost nobody ever backs out. I'd struggle to recall more than two or three occasions.

Similarly, I always establish the other person's relationship status beforehand. That's because there is one line that I don't cross. Namely, that I won't have sex with anyone who's partnered, if their relationship isn't fully open. This isn't so much a moral as a practical issue (although I don't find deceit a sexy look, at all). I was once caught out by someone who pretended his relationship was open, only for him to reveal the next day that it wasn't, and that I was to keep quiet about what had happened. Not long afterwards, I met his partner. It was excruciating. I couldn't act naturally around him at all. So it's largely a self-preservation issue, based around the fact that I'm a hopeless deceiver. And deceit isn't a sexy look on me, either.
