You can thank joygoat for that, BTW.

Cache problem ned: log in again. If the change doesn't stick, just reinstall from app store (you won't be charged again) and it should do it this time.

Q: did you change your password recently? I know there are bugs in that.

stet, Tuesday, 7 December 2010 19:26 (eleven years ago) link

if so what did you change it to (important)

shirley summistake (s1ocki), Tuesday, 7 December 2010 19:27 (eleven years ago) link

Yoyodyne, obv.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 7 December 2010 19:28 (eleven years ago) link

Anyway that post was from Zing and worked just fine so problem solved. Now to find to Sarah Connor etc.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 7 December 2010 19:28 (eleven years ago) link

welcome back, Ned.

I...I was so long away. It's a different world to me now. I'm lost and confused.

I don't believe people that claim to be from the future unless they're naked and hanging out in a bar

just bought the iPhone version; thanks for dropping the price into the impulse-buy zone (and for all yr hard work on this project too I guess)! would love universal support but I can understand if it's not a priority (although I am heartened by your enthusiasm for the Tweetie interface upthread).

Preventing posting of duplicate messages would be a nice addition sometime (or I could develop some self-control and patience and not hit the Post button over and over if it takes more than a moment to post...)

Is that Glenn Danzig or Tommy Wiseau? (Jesse), Monday, 13 December 2010 05:52 (eleven years ago) link

Doesn't the post button grey out for you once it's been hit?

Madchen, Tuesday, 14 December 2010 11:38 (eleven years ago) link

zing touch has been very wonky for me lately. huge long pauses in posting, a couple weird error messages (one that goes by so fast i can't remember it, something about "new style" of messages?), frequently URLs won't open either

tickle me imo (s1ocki), Tuesday, 14 December 2010 13:35 (eleven years ago) link

It does grey out. But besides my frantic, impatient repeated pushing the Post button, there was at least one inexplicable triple post, perhaps due to a twitchy thumb.

That error message about the old-style bookmarks comes up when the connection drops out. I suspect the error text is just wrong.

I see this too and am on it. I haven't changed in anything in the relevant bits, so I'm guessing it's iOS 4.2. That bookmark error is actually supposed to be a suggestion -- the idea is that it comes up when bookmarking fails and suggests you might try double-checking the setting in preferences, but there wasn't enough space to make it clear. Am rewriting all that code just now anyway for increased betterness.

(I also see the huge long pauses in posting in Chrome on ILX sometimes too. Wonder if they're related. (I use Google networking code)).

stet, Tuesday, 14 December 2010 22:02 (eleven years ago) link

weird - chrome working fine for me

Too long on ILx: I read that as "increased bitterness" :/

This happens when you quote a message that contains a picture:

The 100 Most Fascinatingly Disgusting Members Of The Animal Kindom

Image goes missing, author is embarrassed, undergoes years of psychotherapy, ultimately dies alone in a shack atop a cold windy mountain.

downloaded it last week, love its logic. suggestion - instantly to the top of the page by tapping the top bar? (like in safari?) i like to read the openingpost and it would be handy for polls as well...

willem, Thursday, 23 December 2010 14:15 (eleven years ago) link

i think it does that already? i think all scrolling iphone apps do automatically...

e.g. delete via naivete (ledge), Thursday, 23 December 2010 14:18 (eleven years ago) link

willem, Thursday, 23 December 2010 14:21 (eleven years ago) link

one month passes...

Is anyone else having a problem with missing text? I'll use it for a couple of days and then threads will load with text missing all over the place.

These things fix it:

- clearing memory using System Activity Monitor app
- closing a load of open apps
- rebooting phone

It happens in Tapatalk as well (link here, scroll down to CptanPanic's post) so I assume it's an iOS library issue.

oh and I don't think Tapatalk has fixed it yet.

Just me then? Hokay.

For some reason i am only able to view my bookmarks and not the various boards/site new answers. Maybe just a reinstall will fix.

blank, Friday, 28 January 2011 02:46 (eleven years ago) link

weird question-

on ios4-- anyway to make it so that when viewing a youtube in zing's safari mode you can multitask/ have youtube audio playing in the background?

gr8080, Friday, 28 January 2011 03:41 (eleven years ago) link

i'm having the same issue as blank. and i don't even have any bookmarks right now, so i don't see anything when i load zing touch (or zing lite for that matter). it is sad.
i also can't seem to set bookmarks in regular ol ilx either atm, if that has anything to do with anything...

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Friday, 28 January 2011 06:09 (eleven years ago) link

same issue happening for me too.

tangelo amour (elmo argonaut), Friday, 28 January 2011 15:54 (eleven years ago) link

Mine has been working perfectly, but a friend told me she has been unable to post for a few days. She can read threads, just not post.

also, that Christmas tree has a dildo on its head (Jesse), Friday, 28 January 2011 17:04 (eleven years ago) link

ok set some bookmarks and they show up in zing just fine but that's it. weird.

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Friday, 28 January 2011 17:31 (eleven years ago) link

Yep I get a blank screen too, and "no new bookmarks". It was ok a few days ago. Having to use safari ugh. I should just get out of bed and use my PC lol
