who here can get into a good ol-fashioned tuna melt

shirley summistake (s1ocki), Tuesday, 7 December 2010 06:09 (thirteen years ago) link

love a tuna melt. how do you take yours

tim lincecum in a giants snuggie (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 7 December 2010 06:11 (thirteen years ago) link

sometimes i like them on english muffins, othertimes on challah
cheddar is the move
a little sprinkling of cayenne powder can lead to excellent results

shirley summistake (s1ocki), Tuesday, 7 December 2010 06:15 (thirteen years ago) link

yes i like plain wheat bread, put a little ancho chili powder on the tuna itself then top with thickly sliced sharp cheddar or vermont white cheddar

never tried on english muffin or challah, but i will

tim lincecum in a giants snuggie (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 7 December 2010 06:30 (thirteen years ago) link

today i ate a very plain but very delicious sandwich

plain "wheat" bread - not whole grain
a large blob of nathan's mustard
2 slices pepper jack
plain "wheat" bread - not whole grain

it was so good.

tim lincecum in a giants snuggie (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 7 December 2010 06:32 (thirteen years ago) link

ok that one's a bit less intimidating, that's basically what i eat when i'm all out of sandwich meats. either that or grilled cheese w/ a bit of cayenne melted in

ciderpress, Tuesday, 7 December 2010 13:42 (thirteen years ago) link

tuna melt on pumpernickel is awesome

tehresa, Tuesday, 7 December 2010 13:47 (thirteen years ago) link

oh ya pumpernickel. good call.

my all-time sandwich from childhood? rye bread (maybe with caraway seeds), chicago 58 kosher salami hand-sliced thick, TONS of french's mustard

shirley summistake (s1ocki), Tuesday, 7 December 2010 14:33 (thirteen years ago) link

I love French's mustard. I have like 8-10 mustards in the house, but French's is the one for a simple sandwich of cold cuts.

pixel farmer, Tuesday, 7 December 2010 14:39 (thirteen years ago) link

old-school yellow mustard is the best.

shirley summistake (s1ocki), Tuesday, 7 December 2010 14:41 (thirteen years ago) link

i mean, i love many mustards. but special place in heart.

shirley summistake (s1ocki), Tuesday, 7 December 2010 14:42 (thirteen years ago) link

lately i've been obsessed w/ this jalapeno mustard... & tbh i'm not even a massive fan of jalapenos, but this shit kills me (it's pretty much classic yellow mustard + bits of jalapenos in it)
