Yeah it was ten years ago maybe?,i cant remember exactly when it came out Back when Tower had a fantastic funk and soul section. Picked up some great albums there on the recommendation of Andy who worked on the funk/soul floor. Bought all my funk vinyl from there and FOPP(who licensed it all) up in the west end. Tower more or less died when FOPP opened round the corner. Although it had went downhill before that when they cut back on specialist stuff, which for me was the lifeblood of the store as anything other shops had tended to be far cheaper than Tower.
Missing went downhill around then too.

Does anyone go up the barras now? I havent been up there since about 1998. Used to get some great bootlegs from the barras and there was always plenty of cheap cds/vinyl too.

i went to the barras on my first visit to glasgow abt a year or so ago - pretty dispiriting - lotsa shitty bootleg dvds of the latest big movies, overpriced junk, 1980s bob dylan bootlegs, not real bargains that i cld spot and im normally a gd spotter

It used to be great. But I just don't feel the need to go there now just for bootlegs(live) as i can just download them now for free.
I've never bought pirate cds or dvds ever.

Did someone try to sell you ciggies or tobacco every 10 yards?

Picked up Nuggets today for a fiver.
Also the Associates double pack for a fiver and Fairport's Angel Delight for £3. It's their first sans Thompo - not bad at all.

a little bird told me that HMV are moving to Fopp pricing schemes of £5, £7 & £12 across the board. so if your planning on buying anything in HMV thats over a twelve bar, maybe wait and see.

not sure if the TCR one is open yet.... if theyve got room for a cafe, then surely they can have room for bizzarely priced vinyl...

its just not Fopp without the vinyl.

HMV in Kingston has been doing this for a while. Huge white stickers on everything with either £5, £7 or £12 on. Some kind of try out, I guess. I can just imagine the execs meeting when they finally stumbled on that one... "Well, we might just shift a few more units if we sold 'em a bit... cheaper!" "God, will that work? Better not rush into anything, perhaps we'd better just test it in one of our stores first."

I got Gram Parsons Complete Reprise Recordings. It was £15, but it feels quite heavy, weightwise. Nevertheless, I feel a bit guilty. It has alternative versions and some interview snippets, but a little voice keeps asking me why would they try to improve on perfection?

But I was a bit sad, and I thought it might cheer me up. Perhaps it will.

I am a bit disappointed with John Cale's Paris 1919 though. He has quite a boring voice.

Oxford Street is doing this now. The £7 price point is good for reisues e.g Siouxsie remasters. But I notice that the new Can ones were still £16.99 or something obscene. So off to e-bay...

I will try again, Dadaismus. I thought it would be like Andalusia all the way through, hence disappointment, I think. I haven't listened to it all yet, just a bit this morning as I approached my place of qwork with a heavy heart.

On Vinatge Violence I like the extra track that is a viola drone best.

Roughage Crew, you can get a Gram Parsons 2CD compilation with a nice booklet from Monsieur Le Fopp (and other retailers) for £7. I think it is you best bet, as it covers his entire (short) career. I can't remember what it's called - Gilded Cowboy Sinners, or something.
