Captain Lorax, can you upload stuff to Grooveshark or do you just have to use what's already there? Because I send you the four tracks I nominated that are included on this list (or send you a link).

_Rudipherous_, Saturday, 4 December 2010 02:09 (thirteen years ago) link

Am listening to it now, and enjoying it so far. Looking forward to hearing the rest.

_Rudipherous_, Saturday, 4 December 2010 02:12 (thirteen years ago) link

Suddenly realize why "Tomorrow Never Knows" was not in the Top 125. It was never nominated.

Cant believe witchita lineman polled so high. That song is so utterly boring and horrible.

Oh so this is a live Fairouz version on the grooveshark mix. I had the original studio/soundtrack version in mind, but this sounds good. Good song, great singer. Fairly safe in that case.

_Rudipherous_, Saturday, 4 December 2010 03:09 (thirteen years ago) link

Captain Lorax you also forgot Darcy Clay - Jesus I was Evil off that list.

Hinklepicker, Saturday, 4 December 2010 03:21 (thirteen years ago) link

"Something's Gotten Hold of My Heart" seems familiar but in a really remote way. I don't know if I've heard it before or not.

Listening to The Captain's grooveshark playlist right now (btw thank you). And you know what? 'Moon In June' is good. But does it really need to be 19 mins long? I think I may be missing the point however.

babel on (pandemic), Saturday, 4 December 2010 08:49 (thirteen years ago) link

it tttttotally does need to be 19 minutes long! how else are you gonna have a sublime jazz-rock wig-out followed by an escapist psych-drone finale hewn from the very cosmos

Cap.Obv (acoleuthic), Saturday, 4 December 2010 09:03 (thirteen years ago) link

Great work guys. Happier with the results of this poll than most others, Still a few wtf placings (Love Action at 970, Do You Believe In Magic 1283, What Become of the Brokenhearted at 1451) but overall pretty good.

Incidentally if the Sandy Denny/Fairport versions of Who Knows Where The Time Goes are combined that gets 1200 points and slides in at 108.

Go for a 50's poll and a 1900-1949 poll separately otherwise the first half of the century will be stiffed by the rock 'n' roll juggernaut.

A bit disappointed by "Don't You Want Me"'s showing. I thought there were lots of people into that song here. Not that #285 is bad in a poll of more than 2000, but I seriously expected it to be in the Top 100.

X-Post: "Uptown Top Ranking" is an awesome and catchy reggae tune, but ranking it as reggae's greatest moment may be a bit over the top.

gonna stick my neck out and guess that a lot of the "Uptown Top Ranking" votes weren't from hardcore Reggae heads. which is irrelevant cos it's a total classic.
