captayn cronch (crüt), Friday, 3 December 2010 20:09 (thirteen years ago) link

absinthe of malithe (Noodle Vague), Friday, 3 December 2010 20:09 (thirteen years ago) link

Moka otm

Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 3 December 2010 20:09 (thirteen years ago) link

that's the best track by miles on a helluvan influential record, so yeah more than worthy.

charlie h, Friday, 3 December 2010 20:09 (thirteen years ago) link

I appreciate the WTFness of this choice however

absinthe of malithe (Noodle Vague), Friday, 3 December 2010 20:10 (thirteen years ago) link

peter in montreal, Friday, 3 December 2010 20:10 (thirteen years ago) link

Why couldn't I have a more marketable gift?

kornrulez6969, Friday, 3 December 2010 20:10 (thirteen years ago) link

love it, voted for, super depressed to see it place this high

phish in your sleazebag (contenderizer), Friday, 3 December 2010 20:10 (thirteen years ago) link

Decent song but wtf???

seandalai, Friday, 3 December 2010 20:10 (thirteen years ago) link

I ask (silently) for curveballs, I get curveballs.

Spectrist, Friday, 3 December 2010 20:10 (thirteen years ago) link

if you're not part of the solution people

absinthe of malithe (Noodle Vague), Friday, 3 December 2010 20:10 (thirteen years ago) link

hahaha wow

I didn't vote for it, but it's good

Torn Curtain is better tho

gospermaban sim gishel (acoleuthic), Friday, 3 December 2010 20:10 (thirteen years ago) link

I've tried for nigh on 20 years to break into Marquee Moon (and Adventure, and had the most success with the s/t 1992 album), but I still find Television to be absolutely snoozable. And I love guitars!!

Señor Mexico (Johnny Fever), Friday, 3 December 2010 20:11 (thirteen years ago) link

hurrah for television!

Algerian Goalkeeper, Friday, 3 December 2010 20:11 (thirteen years ago) link

Oh come on. Torn Curtain? Barf out.

kornrulez6969, Friday, 3 December 2010 20:11 (thirteen years ago) link

also you fuckers voted for that and not the boredoms? gahhh

haha Torn Curtain is so the best track. yeah only I think that

gospermaban sim gishel (acoleuthic), Friday, 3 December 2010 20:12 (thirteen years ago) link

Van der Graaf Generator still in with a shout of a top 5 place then.

absinthe of malithe (Noodle Vague), Friday, 3 December 2010 20:12 (thirteen years ago) link

btw black sabbath, deep purple ,iron maiden,ac/dc,metallica & guns n roses aren't going to chart now, are they?

Algerian Goalkeeper, Friday, 3 December 2010 20:12 (thirteen years ago) link

OK now I think it'll be

God Only Knows
I Feel Good
Be My Baby
I Feel Love
Satisfaction
Billie Jean
In My Life

daavid, Friday, 3 December 2010 20:12 (thirteen years ago) link

looking forward to The Enid at number 1

absinthe of malithe (Noodle Vague), Friday, 3 December 2010 20:12 (thirteen years ago) link

I think this spot for Marquee Moon is a bit too high... to say the least.

the total number of points I gave VdGG is quite funny

gospermaban sim gishel (acoleuthic), Friday, 3 December 2010 20:12 (thirteen years ago) link

narrowly beating out Wishbone Ash

absinthe of malithe (Noodle Vague), Friday, 3 December 2010 20:13 (thirteen years ago) link

Hah sorry didn't meant to use the word 'knack'... no idea what actual word I was looking for.

Black Sabbath is definitely placing

Moka, Friday, 3 December 2010 20:13 (thirteen years ago) link

daavid I like your list now!

the structuralist constructions of (Viceroy), Friday, 3 December 2010 20:13 (thirteen years ago) link

@Algerian Goalkeeper: There are more than six places left!

seandalai, Friday, 3 December 2010 20:13 (thirteen years ago) link

xpost Brilliant song. Totally shocked to see it so high but it does deserve it.

Kitchen Person, Friday, 3 December 2010 20:13 (thirteen years ago) link

omg i want to vote for wishbone ash in something, anything

ciderpress, Friday, 3 December 2010 20:13 (thirteen years ago) link

i'm beginning to worry that sebadoh aren't gonna be on this list at all

Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 3 December 2010 20:13 (thirteen years ago) link

massive lol

Yeezy reupholstered my pussy (DJP), Friday, 3 December 2010 20:13 (thirteen years ago) link

Were Sebadoh nominated?

seandalai, Friday, 3 December 2010 20:14 (thirteen years ago) link

but maybe Black Sabbath were negatively affected by split voting.

Moka, Friday, 3 December 2010 20:14 (thirteen years ago) link

Algerian Goalie, I gave big votes to a couple of Sabbath tracks but I think I was just pissing in the wind.

the structuralist constructions of (Viceroy), Friday, 3 December 2010 20:14 (thirteen years ago) link

xxxxxpost

Will start a best bands of the 20th century that rhyme with Gishbone Bash poll next week.

absinthe of malithe (Noodle Vague), Friday, 3 December 2010 20:14 (thirteen years ago) link

Polls been great, only a couple of songs I haven't liked actually, but if Sabbath don't make it, then i'd find it very bizarre.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Friday, 3 December 2010 20:14 (thirteen years ago) link

come on, more surprises. surprises are the only way to keep this top 10 business interesting.

charlie h, Friday, 3 December 2010 20:15 (thirteen years ago) link

sad that "Chameleon" apparently didn't make the list

captayn cronch (crüt), Friday, 3 December 2010 20:15 (thirteen years ago) link

xp - I might have voted for Spoiled...no wait, I wouldn't have.

seandalai, Friday, 3 December 2010 20:15 (thirteen years ago) link

NV id totally vote in that poll

Algerian Goalkeeper, Friday, 3 December 2010 20:15 (thirteen years ago) link

okay, wait, i lied. i cut it "marquee moon" the last minute in favor of "see no evil", then cut that too. thank god, and fuck you all for not voting "youth of america" instead. THAT i would love to have seen finish at #8.

would like to think this poll had another flamingos or althea & donna in it...

and i spent a bunch of points on the boriginal and it probably finished at like 524 or something

phish in your sleazebag (contenderizer), Friday, 3 December 2010 20:16 (thirteen years ago) link

AG you'd probably be depressed when ILM makes the cocteau twins sweep that poll's top 10

captayn cronch (crüt), Friday, 3 December 2010 20:16 (thirteen years ago) link

Barclay James Harvest, Are They Better Than Irving Berlin? 5 new answers

absinthe of malithe (Noodle Vague), Friday, 3 December 2010 20:16 (thirteen years ago) link

there's probably some obscure artsy postpunk band called Lishbone Mash that will sweep it

ciderpress, Friday, 3 December 2010 20:16 (thirteen years ago) link

Which Sabbath song might have garnered the most votes tho? 'Supernaut'? 'Paranoid'? I find it strange they haven't appeared at all in the top 100 so far. Always think of them as one of ILM's token bands.

Moka, Friday, 3 December 2010 20:16 (thirteen years ago) link

if 'paranoid' is the sabbath song that pops up now, then i hope sabbath don't appear at all. that's like the sabbath song for non-sabbath fans.

charlie h, Friday, 3 December 2010 20:17 (thirteen years ago) link

My first time hearing 'Marquee Moon'. It was alright.

― phish in your sleazebag (contenderizer), Friday, 3 December 2010 20:16 (30 seconds ago)

it was my number 7, thought it fitting :(

gospermaban sim gishel (acoleuthic), Friday, 3 December 2010 20:17 (thirteen years ago) link

i nommed 'into the void' and by rights, that's the tune that should've garnered the most points. 'supernaut' is more than acceptable though.

charlie h, Friday, 3 December 2010 20:17 (thirteen years ago) link

07. MICHAEL JACKSON "Billie Jean" (1982) [2,604 points, 24 votes, 1 first place vote]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JoYL30RvC0A

(I chose this version specifically because I never tire of hearing the audience lose their shit when the moonwalk comes.)

Señor Mexico (Johnny Fever), Friday, 3 December 2010 20:17 (thirteen years ago) link

Shame that Fishbone/Clash collaboration never materialised.
