Yay for "I Put a Spell on You" and "Israelites", this is the kinda of variety this poll needs. Both are the kind of tunes that made me immediately realize they're awesome on the first listening, as soon as the singing started.

And "Good Times" is fine as well, though I too had to omit it in favour "Lost in Music" when it came to cutting my initial shortlist into 100 songs. Hopefully "Lost in Music" is still to come, as it is pretty much the best "classic" disco (i.e. non-electronic disco) tune of all time.

Yeah, I think "Blue Monday" would've been enough NO in the top 100. Three songs is kinda too much.

Wow I just assumed Blue Monday would be it for them. I actually had three New Order songs on my list but none of them have appeared. I'm sure that's it now but Joy Division are surely going to do quite well later on.

And here's yet another song from my top 25 to show up today. Great melody, great lyrics, basically the perfect pop-rock hit. Nice list today so far.

Didn't vote for any New Order, I don't really have a clear favourite song of theirs. 'Bizarre Love Triangle' or 'Vanishing Point' maybe. Not one of these three.

there are other DM songs I like a lot more ("Stripped", "Never Let Me Down Again", "Shame", "Shake The Disease", "Waiting For The Night", "Freelove", "Tora! Tora! Tora!", "Fly on the Windscreen", "Precious", etc etc etc etc) but as far as group consensus picks go, I am finally at the point where I can live with it being "Enjoy The Silence"

Enjoy the Silence is a very well structured song. Some of the production touches are a little misguided but there isn't a note out of place.

Never understood why people rate "Little Red Corvette" so high, it's one of the most boring tunes on 1999. Just a basic rocker with nothing particularly great about it.

I mean, 1999 has tunes that are catchier ("1999", "Let's Pretend We're Married"), more danceable (most of them), and freakier ("Lady Cab Driver"), what's special about this one?

It doesn't matter in what order you rate the qualities, my point is that even though "Little Red Corvette" is not bad, the album it's on has other tunes that beat it no matter what yardstick you're using. And if you look at Prince's whole career, it certainly ain't his second best tune of them all.

Well, that's true. I'd probably rate HALF of the songs on Sign O The Times higher than Little Red Corvette, but that in no way diminshes what a tasty piece of pop songwriting it is.

yeah, i never really got "little red corvette", aside from being O_O at the lyrics as a kid. i mean, it's obviously a catchy song, but far from a personal favorite. would take the likes of "when doves cry", "erotic city", "when you were mine", "controversy", "kiss", "sexuality", even "raspberry beret" or "sign o' the times" over it.
